I just finished participating in the vote for Libertarian President and Vice President. This was my 1st convention and I am quite proud to have participated.
Former Congressman Bob Barr is our nominee for President with Wayne Root as Vice President. It took 5 ballots for Root to be eliminated as choice for President (he was my choice) which left Mary Ruwart and Bob Barr. Mary is a "perfect" libertarian but is so liberal that she has written that child porn was okay if the child was a willing participant. (She says govt. laws just raise the price of the porn).
Root brokered a deal with Barr where he would endorse Barr on the condition that Barr would ask the convention to vote Barr as the
VP candidate. It took 2 ballots for this to happen.
The political process (albeit at a lower level) was amazing. I was able to speak with and get to know Root but also had a quick conversation with Barr and former (Democratic) senator Mike Gravel. Gravel ended his political career when he lost the bid on the 3rd ballot.
It is important that insurance agents - especially health insurance agents - take a long look at supporting the Libertarian candidate. Obviously the democrats want to put us out of business and McCain, well, he's McCain! He wants to tax us to death with military campaigns.
If there are typos, sorry. I just got back from a 14 hour day and the beer has just settled in.
