For me web based is hands down what I prefer. I have only taken one paper class and that was before it was offered on computer. I have never attended a classroom for any securities or insurance license. I hate those classes. A lot of wasted time.
ONLINE. No, seriously, online. That frickin' 40 hour class was the worst 2 weekends of my entire life. It didn't help that I'd been in the industry for 5 years and taken about a gazillion LOMA and American College CLU tests before going to the 40 hour class. Even if that hadn't been the case, that class would have been miserable.
People learn at different rates. If you learn reeeaaaalllllll slow, go to class. If you learn fast, keep your sanity and take it online.
Oh AND the other bad part about the class was all the other people taking it who spoke endlessly about the millions they were sure to make upon graduation. People who could barely tie their own shoes. All talk....I hate people like that. Blerg.
Oh my gosh, I'm shaking right now. I think I have PTSD.

When learning anything new, REPETITION IS KEY. When I went for my pre-license training, I attended a classroom setting course. The only thing I could remember by the time I was done were the topics we discussed within the last hour of class. When I re-read the book, most of the topics seemed like they were highlighted by someone else, and I had to relearn them.
A.D. Banker is a fine school regardless of venue, but I would certainly recommend the online course. In addition, you will probably save a few bucks as well!
I did the AD Banker online (also in ohio), all of about 3 months ago. I got through the whole thing in about 4 days, but I take lots of notes (ie I wrote everything on the screen down), so it can probably be done (much) faster. It is a very good program and as long as you take it seriously it will do a good job preparing you for the state exams.
Hey I just passed AD Bankers course here in California. I used their online course which was awesome. Great interactive questions made it better for learning. I also took one of their full day exam preps because I wanted to pass it the first time no worry in my mind after that.
I've both the class and the online course. All I can say is do the online course. not only do you not miss a week of your life, but also you don't miss a week of work! some of these online courses can be a lot cheaper than their in person counterpart. not to mention they charge you for "studyhall" or "Crams" as well as you can do it at your leisure at home within a two or three week period!
The Online course I took let you read the material and take the practice test as many times as you wanted at no extra charge!!!!
You all have no idea how lucky you are to be able to take the on-line courses - we can't here in MN for some reason - has to be classroom. I finished the basics class and am trying to get both my P/C class taken - and they only hold them during the week. With my current work schedule it's making me crazy(er)!

Does anyone have any input on which is better?
I'm in Ohio by the way
Ben, I believe class room study is better for newbies. More real time interaction to ask questions.

The only way I would attend a classroom is the licensing body requires classroom training. All of the classes I have ever attended in person will put you to sleep.

I agree with Peter. I liked being in a classrom setting where I could ask a question when I had a question. Drawback is that so can everyone else. Every class has a "What if..." person in it and that can be frustrating. But I believe the benefits outweigh the inconveniences.
Just my two cents.
Here in Washington, they require classroom time, so I didn't have a choice. I have to admit that I really didn't mind the classroom. It was a small class and we didn't just focus on memorizing information, but also on understanding the concepts. I get bored with repetition, so having an instructor keeping me focused and other classmates around to crack jokes with really helped keep things moving. I'm not saying I'd want to do it again, but I'm also not sure I'd prefer to do the online training.
I am in Oregon. Until a couple of years ago, we did not have the choice. I did mine in the class setting. If I had to do it again, I would do the online course.
Another thing to keep in mind is how you best learn. Some people do better in the classroom.
