Yes. Each day that goes by without you writing the app is another day you have knowingly left this family without the protection they need. Write the app. Read my post from above. Then write the app. If there is a problem, it will be solved by the bankruptcy trustee. Let the BK court worry about it. Just do your job and write the app.

If it is a chapter 13 case, the lawyer has to know about it because it has to get factored into the payment plan. Your sounds like a no asset chapter 7 case, and I am assuming the term premium is less than 100 a month. I would not worry about it. Even though bankruptcy is a federal law, each court has their own local rules on what they allow as reasonable. Some of them wont allow refundable term insurance.
