A Day In The Life Starting Out

Hi there,
I was wondering if any experienced insurance agents could let me know how "a day in the life of" was for you starting out.
For example:

1) What did you do to find your clients when starting out? Did the company provide any help? (side note: now that we have a do not call list, how do you reach consumers?)

2) What were your main activities?

3) What would you have done different if you were to start again?

When i first started out I focused on small business cold calling by phone and then stopping by in person. Both methods will work if you put in the hours.
 
Cold calling on businesses, either by phone or dropping by. They get calls daily so dropping by might be best. Develop a route and go by once a month and leave a notepad with your name, something good they can use. You might try leading with a supplement like cancer or critical illness. Register for your own website at the bottom of this reply to quote them. That could be a great icebreaker.
