A 32-year Allstate Corp. veteran has sued the company's recent decision to stop offering free life insurance for retirees. The litigant, who retired from Allstate in 1995, filed the suit in a U.S. District Court in the Middle District of Alabama on Monday. The lawsuit seeks class-action status, including Allstate retirees who were provided life insurance benefits at no cost but who have been told perk will end Dec. 31, 2015. Upon his retirement, the company promised to provide him with $90,000 of life insurance for the rest of his life for free, according to the case.
