I'm getting exclusive leads, right now from LeadBot and Producer Pipeline. LeadBot has been yielding pretty good results, but as any lead, the success comes in waves. I just started using Producer Pipeline, so it's a little early to tell.
You're going to hear good/bad stories about all of these lead companies. Everyone's experience will differ. I can say that LeadBot has been great with processing lead credits for bad leads (bad phone #, heart disease, whong #, etc...) and that is very important to me. To me, it seems like they are trying to build a good relationship with their customers.

Actually, my mistake. There is another poster who uses "insuranceman" and he was pimping the source you mention. Unless you are the same person (and I doubt it), then I do apologize.
My grumpiness is that I'm tired of guys jumping on this and other forums simply to bull$hit us.

I would ask your company for leads. They probably give you what a 50-55% commission. They aren't paying you anything that you aren't already producing. If you have to pay for your own leads and all maybe it's time to go independent. Just put that before your sales manager and see what he or she says. Almost 2 years in as a captive you probably have the experience you need. I am sure that the company would be just delighted you footing the bill to make them some money. Maybe they would share the cost if you ask. But anyway most of the lead companies are about the same. People have different results and experiences using the same lead company. It may be just as beneficial to spend 500.00 dollars on a lead mailing.

Rick
Let me add a corollary to this sentiment. Have you wondered why so many of the people who call you (or post here) with advice or solutions... are not doing what you are doing?
Maybe this is just an alignment of the stars but in the last three weeks I've had coffee with the Aetna woman, the Anthem guy and an Choice Admin person. I've had calls from the Blue Shield woman and a couple of calls from a nice guy at Senior Market Sales. I also spoke with a guy from HBW (whom I happen to like very much) as well as a woman from Principal (I write their DI.) I've also been called by two brand new GAs made up of some of the 20 guys that Crump let go in Sacramento a while back.
Except or the Blue Shield lady who just called to say "Thank you for your biz" and the HBW guy... all the others had advice, tips, leads, solutions, systems, and all sorts of material for me to read. I'm told that if I do what they say (partly meaning that I sell their brand using their "solution") that my income will dramatically increase.
I always wonder. If these folks were so good a insurance sales... F2F or P2P or B2B with customers... why are they on salary with a carrier or a GA? Why aren't they out there doing what they are telling ME to do?
You folks make your own decision... I don't care. And I talk to everyone, no matter what they are selling or promoting. But in my 61 years of life I've had better results taking instruction from the guy who PLAYS second base and won a Golden Glove award... than from the guy who coaches the infield. I've received much better advice from the guy who is out in the field and who has actually written a million dollars of annuity premium last year then the guy who wrote the book on how to do it.
All these folks selling us leads? Maybe I'm just naive but it seems that if their leads were so good... they would be out there closing them. They would have their own agency with hundreds of agents working these leads.
So yeah. I see where Rick's "grumpiness" comes from. "Money talks... bulls--t walks."

James, you are sooooo correct. I am ready to go independent and not a moment later. Ive got $5k stashed back and have called some appointers. It will never be soon enough but I have to be patient. Thanks for the adivice. As for the leads, $25 for one lead? I dont think so. Ill just find my own.

Agent5913 ... I agree that $25 for 1 life lead is more expensive then some lead providers...however after you work some netquote leads for $3 or $10 or whatever and have to sift through maybe 10 leads to get one with good contact info you might reconsider...I've been using Leadbot as well and at first was not happy with them...however I have found that most of the leads are reachable, not complaining I'm the 60th person to call them it is definatly refreshing..
I agree with you that the best lead you will get is one you prospect for yourself but it might not be a bad idea to keep them in your back pocket..its a lead you don't have to prospect for just sell.

I would be willing to pay over $30 for a good lead. Someone that really wants to talk to someone about buying life insurance.

I've posted it before, but again, try Budgetlife. It's $6 for someone under age 40 and $30 for someone over age 40. We've had fantastic ROI with them over the years (somewhere between 8:1 and 12:1 - we don't keep track exactly, but we know what we make and what we spend on leads, and they're the only vendor we use). Supposedly the leads aren't exclusive but when someone puts in their lead info, when you get sent a lead it gives them an autoresponse to contact you only rather than a list of 3-4 agents. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but we rarely get peope saying they've been called multiple times. Their website is Term Life Insurance - Quotes From the Best Term Life Insurance Companies, you can call Terry Burt and ask him for details or to set you up with an account.
