My guess is that a lot of producers should use and need a life settlement broker, but try to act as a broker themselves to capture all of the potential comp. Is this they way it plays out in reality?

I guess I wouldn't use the term 'need', but I would like to know some inside benefits of having a life settlement broker around.

I have been selling life for a few years now, but if someone called me up and had fell on hard times with nothing but an in-force life policy to show, I wouldn't have anyone to refer them to for help.

No, a producer does not need a life settlement broker, as long as the producer is willing to do some of the heavy lifting the broker will take off your plate.
