So, tl;dr version, after the failed zero premium life insurance scam, Alireza Shahrak created a company called Azin Petroleum Group and had Miracle Insurance and Financial Group - also his d/b/a - insure a multimillion sale to a Turkish industrial oil concern. The Turkish company wired over $700,000 to Ali as a 25 percent deposit on goods to be received. Of course, the goods never existed in the first place and Azin defaulted on the sale. Miracle, ostensibly the guarantor of the sale, defaulted on its responsibility to pay 110 percent of the deposit when Azin defaulted.
Ali's sole defense for his fraud was that no North Carolinians were affected by his actions. The Court was not amused, and his insurance license was summarily revoked.
Sounds like quite a guy!
