AARP Contracts with NY Life to Sell LTC

This is after Met Life dropped them. And Genworth dropped them...

Is the NYL product going to be for brokers, captives, or direct to consumer?

NYL captives and a "direct to consumer phone sales" division of NYL based in Tampa.

so....curiosity questions......

will they be selling their standard LTC product at regular rates? I'll assume AARP has to get a cut of everything sold...so it would imply a more expensive plan because of the logo if they do.

Will it be a unique product just for AARP members? I doubt they will take a simplified UW approach with a long term contract and get burnt like JH did with the Federal program.

Maybe they'll tell everyone the traditional LTC plan is a sucker's bet....and push linked benefit and hybrids only?

Any insight....or too soon to tell? Just trying to understand the new competition....if you want to call it that.
