We are kind of newbie in this area.
Started looking for LTC insurance for both of us. Doing a lot of research and reading.

So many options - really confused!
Looking for some data indicating most popular LTC choices (traditional - 2/3 yrs, hybrid, annuity etc.) from some reputable LTC Insurance companies.

Any opinions on hybrid and annuity options?
Thanks

Long term care insurance is a perfect fit for people who are at risk of requiring any form of long term care such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, CCRCs and the likes.

It is very beneficial today since the cost of long term care is soaring. Here are some figures from Genworth about the latest cost of care and its projected cost by 2035:

• Homemaker services: $45,760, $82,648.
• • Home health aide: $50,336, $90,912.
• • Adult day health care: $20,150, $36,393.
• • Assisted-living facility: Private one-bedroom, $66,900, $120,829.
• • Nursing home — Semi-private room: $146,000, $263,692; private room: $158,275, $286,765.

These are the different types of long-term care insurance available today:

1. Reimbursement insurance – It’s the type of policy that asks the policyholders to pay first and the insurance company will reimburse you for it. The insurance will pay for the exact expenses but it still depends on your policy.

2. Indemnity insurance – This is more expensive than reimbursement insurance because it gives you your daily benefit regardless of the amount of your bill.

3. Partnership long term care insurance – This is the type of policy that allows you to receive Medicaid benefits without spending down your assets.

4. Hybrid policy – This policy is an alternative to traditional long term care insurance. It provides long term care coverage while receiving life insurance or fixed annuity benefits.

I hope these insights can help everyone who are at a loss on what course to take, whether to buy long term care insurance or take the alternatives.

After all, this is LTCGa's first post on the board - got to give'em the taste of what it is like out here (and it is pretty much like that one scene from the Die Hard with a Vengeance....)

ltcga = ltc global agency, I am guessing?
