Marriage and Birth Records for Lead Generation?Go to Top
Hi,
I have been looking for a way to "easily" obtain marriage and birth records in my state for a marketing campaign. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if they're suffering from insomnia, that ought to cure it.
So, do you have any experience (good or bad) with a similar strategy?
I do.
Unless you can come up with something creative that captures someone's attention, you're doomed to something like a .00000002 response rate (and that's being generous).

I'm throwing you probably the most valuable bone (if you realize it) that will ever be tossed your way.
Absolutely nobody (except maybe you) cares about "rapid issue term", and "graded death benefits". It sounds like you got this from an insurance company?
People's eyes will glaze over!!!
I think it was Zig Ziglar who said, "people don't care what it IS, they care what it DOES."
Here's what most folks care about: what happens to their children if they're not around...if their spouse can maintain a standard of living if their death occurs...
Forget the product features, nobody cares, except for the insurance company!

Glossy postcard - the front is a picture of the Hindenburg in flames. On the back:
"WHAT IF THIS FELL ON YOUR BABY. SERIOUSLY. THINK YOU'D WANT TO GO TO WORK THE NEXT DAY? NO? THAT FUNERAL ISN'T GOING TO BE FREE, YOU KNOW. GET BABY LIFE INSURANCE. TAKE A WEEK OFF."
(I jokingly made that up once and told my fiancee I was going to mail it out. She was horrified. I also - seriously this time - have sold several accident policies by saying "What if you got hit by a blimp?").
As for actually being helpful - I agree with Paul, but if you're still interested in targeting that market, start looking through newspapers. Many still print birth and marriage announcements.

My father in law is a pro at a golf course in western NC. A few years ago, a tree fell on a golfer while he was driving his cart. Killed him instantly and injured his riding partner pretty badly. The tree hit him from behind so he never saw it coming. The cart in front heard the sound and turned around to see the tree down and the cart under it.
Tree had some sort of root rot. Tree looked fine, but on a windy day it toppled and hit the guy.
I saved the article in the paper. Crazy how you can go...

Thanks!
Infousa has lists of new parents. I'm not sure about newlyweds. I would think new parents would be a better market than newlyweds.

Neither has any money and the last thing they are thinking about now is buying life insurance. If you can catch expectant parents in the first two trimesters you might have a chance for a sale, but as you get closer to the due date they are focused on other things.
The old saw in life insurance is to sell friends and family, work the new mortgage market, newly wed and new parents.
Guess how many of those markets are over-fished?
If you really want to achieve some success, find (or better yet, create) a niche and work it. Be creative. Think in abstract ways.
The business market is mostly untapped, especially small business owners. If I were so inclined to promote life insurance products, the small business owner would be my target.

The niche is C.I. and D.I. right now to business owners.

You have a point, Mark. Appeal to greed. But I would imagine there are some who also would not want to saddle their family with debt, or trying to sell a business that has lost half (or more) of its' value due to the death of the owner.

If I was going to market parents I'd target those whose children were around 9 months or older. Somarco is right, most with newborns are broke and caught up in the new baby thing. Wait til things have leveled out. With that said, my wife and I bought more life when our daughter was about 4 mo's old. I do not recall anyone marketing to us, we bought from our financial advisor and I had to ask him about it. (before I was in the business)
You are likely looking at inexpensive term sales with fairly low premiums/comm. Don't spend too much money on this. As said above, there are better markets.
