Got a gentleman who is coming off group coverage December 1, 2009. Medicare Supplement Plan F was going to be our first choice; however, Medicare Select Plan C looks rather enticing.
Looks to be exactly the same (as long as he stays in-network for Part A coverage), and is, in his case $58 less. Part B excess is not covered under the Select Plan C, as it is for Plan F.
Frank, and other Med Supp experts, looking for some thoughts.
Re: Med Supp F, High Deduct F, or Select CGo to Top
I woud sell him the Mutual Of Omaha "J" plan and he would love me for it. He gets a plan a little better then the "F" plan and its with a company he knows well. Best of all with the Mutual "J" plan he gets a rider that says he can swith to any Mutual med supplement in the future without having to answer medical questions. Right now the Mutual "J" plan's rates are about as competitive as your going to find. He can sit on that "j" plan for 4 or 5 years and then swith to a newer cheaper Mutual plan in the future. You start messing with those select plans and those so called free Medicare Advantage plans and theres a good chance he wont be loving you down the road let alone respect you. Leave the select plan and the Medicare Advantage plans for the bottom feeders er I mean those agents so desperate for sales they will even go sit in Walmart to find customers!

Gordon has a good point. As long as he is in a metro area and doesn't travel outside it a lot it may be a sound choice for him. The Part B Excess is really no longer a serious consideration today.
I feel the same as he about the HD-F.

thats if they offer the J plan in his area. Here in FL MoO doesn't offer the J plan. Actually I usually don't quote male's for MoO, Females are priced very competitive though
