That happens all the time in thousands of court cases each year. Sometimes people just want things to go away whether they are guilty or not. People who are not guilty plead guilty so they don't risk going to jail for something they didn't do. Look at Donte Stallworth or KobeBryant and contrast that wth someone that took their to trial like Robert Blake. The longer these thing are in the news the worse it gets. Its a strategey. All I'll say is if Mike did molest some kid and they took money rather than see justice the parents are the real sickos.
Any public figure can get shaken down at any time by moneygrubbing con artists looking for settlement bucks. I tak that into account with Pervy Jackson but he lost his chance to make that argument in my view when he and others testified (some in court, jackson in interviews) that he was still having group sleep-overs even after having settled a sex abuse case. That is just frigging nuts and is the behavior of a pervy.
As Bush said so elequently, "fool me once-shame on me, fool me twice WTF," or something like that.

While I agree with your logic in this answer, we all know Dante got drunk and drove his car resulting in someone's death, we all know Robert Blake hired someone to kill his wife, we all know Kobe had an extramarital affair consentual or not, and we all know Micaheal Jackson gave underaged kids wine and (according to atleast 2 complaintants that he)sexually molested them. The man was a drug addict paedophile, if he didn't sing and dance his whole life no buddy on here would give a flying crap about him, sure he entertained the world but deep down I feel like the guy did some really sick things.
I don't know maybe it's because I am now a father but when there are multiple people saying that he did something to them(not that they think they some him do something to someone else) my sympathy goes out the door.
Now come on, people, let's be serious here. Do you really, really think, that "as a father" or "as a mother" you would allow your under-age child to spend the night/share a bed, whatever, with some singer/popstar/Howard Stern-type? You have just got to be kidding.
No one with an ounce of rational sanity would ever have done it. Nor would someone drop a 3 year old (I think) off at a birthday party unsupervised and then find out your kid drowned afterward.
If you would do either of these things as a parent, you shouldn't be a parent.
The people who allowed for this are scum, they left their children in curious circumstances, they make accusations afterward, and face it, sometimes it is just less costly mentally and otherwise to pay out some dough.

Humm, Donte was guilty, he was driving drunk and killed someone and pled out to a lesser sentence to avoid a longer jail term and in hope that if he served his sentence they would let him play this season.
As for Kobe, he did what MJ did. He bought off his accuser's scilence rather than risk going a trial and jail time. This kind of thing happens all of the time with people who have money and power. In some states they even had to create laws to try to try to avoid people from buying their way out of criminal proscecution...in California it is known as The Michael Jackson Law.
Well, if OJ, Blake and Jacko have taught you anything, SoCal juries are willing to let loose criminals despite things like evidence.
If Jacko was innocent, wouldn't he have gone to the police and say he was being blackmailed right away? Louis Anderson did that and so did John Travolta. He was accused of one of the worst crimes of all but rather than fight allegations, he paid the victims off.
Simple fact is the world is a better place with that freak dead.

And like I said (and apparently there are at least 12 people who agree with me) (and I misstated the kid's age, he was 4):
"Daniel's parents, German actress Ursula Karven-Veres and television producer James Veres, later said the boy couldn't swim.
Juror No.1, who did not wish to be named, said she blamed Zeihm for the drowning, noting "She was supposed to be watching him." The juror expressed sympathy for Daniel's parents, who did not appear in the courtroom Thursday, but added, "it didn't mean that Tommy Lee was responsible." "
Seriously. Would you have EVER, I mean EVER have left your 4 year old child at a birthday party like that? Hell f-ing no. The audacity of some people is just stunning.
Even if this was not written by a real soldier, it bears thinking about. Our country has certainly put the priorities in the wrong place. THIS WAS PURPORTEDLY WRITTEN BY A SOLDIER IN IRAQ .
Okay, I need to rant.
I was just watching the news, and I caught part of a report on Michael Jackson . As we all know, Jackson died the other day. He was an entertainer who performed for decades. He made millions, he spent millions, and he did a lot of things that make him a villian to many people. I understand that his death would affect a lot of people, and I respect those people who mourn his death, but that isn't the point of my rant. Why is it that when ONE man dies, the whole of America loses their minds with grief. When a man dies whose only contribution to the country was to ENTERTAIN people, the Amercian people find the need to flock to a memorial in Hollywood , and even Congress sees the need to hold a "moment of silence" for his passing.
Am I missing something here? ONE man dies, and all of a sudden he's a freaking martyr because he entertained us for a few decades? What about all those SOLDIERS who have died to give us freedom? All those Soldiers who, knowing that they would be asked to fight in a war, still raised their hands and swore to defend the Constitution and the United States of America . Where is there moment of silence? Where are the people flocking to their graves or memorials and mourning over them because they made the ultimate sacrifice? Why is it when a Soldier dies, there are more people saying "good ridence," and "thank God for IEDs?" When did this country become so calloused to the sacrifice of GOOD MEN and WOMEN, that they can arbitrarily blow off thier deaths, and instead, throw themselves into mourning for a "Pop Icon?"
I think that if they are going to hold a moment of silence IN CONGRESS for Michael Jackson, they need to hold a moment of silence for every service member killed in Iraq and Afghanistan . They need to PUBLICLY recognize every life20that has been lost so that the American people can live their callous little lives in the luxory and freedom that WE, those that are living and those that have gone on, have provided for them. But, wait, that would take too much time, because there have been so many willing to make that sacrifice. After all, we will never make millions of dollars. We will never star in movies, or write hit songs that the world will listen too. We only shed our blood, sweat and tears so that people can enjoy what they have.
Sorry if I have offended, but I needed to say it. Feel free to pass this along if you want. Remember these five words the next time you think of someone who is serving in the military; "So that others may live..."
I think he can raise that money, despite being dead his songs exist forever but I don't know more about that how much life insurance had...... He was a real musical genius. God bless Michael Jackson's soul. That is really sad...I also feel for his family. That's got to be so hard on them......
