I was also told orphan leads were free and that re-worked leads were free also. I plan on getting referrals anyways so hopefully I will not have to depend on leads too much.

It's been said over and over again, "it's not the company but the manager who will break or make you". If you're not getting the proper training you need, why even stick around? Go someplace else where you can get the training needed, captive or otherwise.

Who really offers sales training anyway? Most managers don't show you how to do better, they just tell you to hang in there and hope you'll do better, it's crap, mostly.

This is why I've had a career in sales training over the last two years and why I originally got shredded because it was assumed I could be one of the rah rah type of managers who sales people have no respect for.

Orphan policy holders often turn out to be orphans for a reason. They let their policies lapse causing charge backs. They probably bankrupted the previous agent. Invest in creating your own leads and leave no doubt on who owns the business.
