My Internet Lead Submission Experience...             Go to Top

I've got to get back to work, but I wanted to share this first. I had a client's daughter submit a request for a health quote online without my client knowing and was about to purchase a policy when her mom suggested she call me first. I put in a request as a "consumer" and was blown away at the call I got. I think it's border line criminal.

First, I get a call and I tell him the guy calling I have a BC/BS HSA plan with a $3000 deductible and pay $130 per month. He attempts to sell me a plan with a $5000 deductible for $179 per month, but "it has dental and vision". I pressed forward, "what happens if I get in a car accident and have a $50,000 bill?". The answer, "well sir, when you go to the emergency room, it's only a $100 co-pay." So, I pressed for more, "what if I go into the hospital?" The response, "hang on one minute sir?"

After 20 seconds, the manager of US Life gets on the phone and then the hard sell begins. After side stepping my question two more times about the car accident scenerio, she admits there is no stop loss on the out of pocket liability. I played dumb and asked genuienly, "What am I missing? What is the advantage of paying more and I won't be protected if something big happens?"

She then hung up on me!

Seriously, those people should be put out of business!

It's scary, isn't it?

I found two in the last week; one agent selling health insurance in Florida (from Texas) without a non-resident license, and one agent with clearly non-compliant text in an email to a prospective client.

I gave 'em both a chance to clarify. Didn't hear from either one.
Made a complaint to the Florida DOI on both of 'em.

These folks have got to be run out of the business.

What is considered "non compliant" text in an email?

Any claim that can't be verified, and has no reference to it's origin.

Example: "Rated #1 on the State's Own Consumer Website", without website address, or link provided.

Wow! That is some shady stuff...

As it says I am a new member and new to this business. But I agree that people that will sidestep that rules and flat out lie on the phone need to be called out.

Amazing,
