New Agency Looking for Help.             Go to Top

Hey folks. I've mainly been posting in the P&C agency forum, but now that I've got most of that lined up I'm in need of further assistance. I'm wondering if there is something for life insurance like Insurance Noodle or Superior Access for Indy agents to get many quotes at the same time. I started out at Penn Mutual and if we couldn't write it there we used Bysis which is now Crump and I'm waiting for calls back from them, but at the same time I'm not quite sure how that might work. If you could treat me kindly but yet speak to me as if a child I'd love to hear what you have to say in this way. A big thing for me will be technology, I'd like to have that all lined up before I begin and to be as paperless as possible. Any suggestions welcome, I'm experienced in Life & Health more so than the P&C however I think that with my connections in the realestate/mortgage business through my personal network that Home Insurance will be the perfect opening for a talk about Life Insurance and now I just need your guys help to figure out how I could go about this. I'm also Series 7 + 66 Licensed so variable products are potential but I'm still not quite sure how an indy agency goes about working out that part of it. (tons of questions, please help).

If you can obtain an appointment with Mass Mutual, they will help with some of your office expenses during the first year ($18,000 - $39,000 via a remote office allowance). I am new to the Independent side, but their commission structure and support all also seem good. I hope this helps!

Post Script: Who did you go with on the P&C side?
On the P&C side I'm going to set up with Superior Access. They seem to be set up for startups rather nicely, own my own book, could be a little slow in early stages as I wont have binding authority, but I'll be able to get numbers to people quickly and efficiently. I also got a quote just today for 2750 from Loyds to handle my E&O with Life/Health/P&C per year. I'll definately look into Mass Mutual and see what their set up is like. Also any other comments are very welcome.

what states are u going to write in, do u ever intend to leave your office, are contracts ur main concern. may want to consider the top 3 in service, cost and product and match up with a GA that can provide you the rest to start off.

Brokers Alliance has been good to me. Best of luck out there!

Compulife and iPipeline both offer quote engine subscriptions. The other option is to go with a wholesaler that offers one for you to use for free.

Technology can be provided by the carrier and/or the IMO. A combination of the two is the best options.

How long have you been with them?
Are you doing their annuities as well? How is the return on their DM pieces you buy?
