Passed my Life Agent exam last Thursday, which was fairly easy. I thought passing the test was one of the biggest hurdles, but I realize now that it’s probably one of the easiest aspects in becoming a producer/agent. I took the initial advice given by some of you and began reading the forum thoroughly on any relevant subject matter to garner more information. After nearly a day, and a fat headache, (well worth it ), I am still confused on how to set up appointments. My initially idea was that you would go to there website, let say blueshield, and fill out the proper forms and that was it. However, some of you guys mentioned IMO’s, GA’s, and companies like HealthChoiceOne.com. I am assuming this is another way, or maybe an easier way to get appointed. Are these sort of like “third party groups/middle man”, where your contracted to sell products from the companies they’re appointed/work with. Is this somewhat of a correct assumption??? I am confused. On top of that I am some what disappointed that I haven't been able to understand everything. I thought I could, especially something as basic as this. Maybe I was too anxious to start. Anyways, any input would be greatly appreciated it. Thanks a million, you guys are a life saver. Now where was that excederin.....

Blessings,

~M

In almost every case you can go right to the carrier's site and fill out the appointment paperwork. However, that's fine if you can go as-earned (which is recommended.) If you cannot go as-earned and need advances you'll need to go through an agency.
