Gotta love those Norvax rates when they quote Aetna smokers!!!

Well the good news is everyone rates up tobacco. Clearly there is risk and major health problems or complications leading up to and including DEATH.

I am SHOCKED they didn't rate from day one - possibly an oversight.

The good news is Aetna is a great company, great plans, I really don't have enough good things to say about them.

Their underwriting is VERY fair compared to GR or other top companies.

I do have contracts w/ leads if anyone needs more info PM me.

And yes Chumps Norvax is indeed quoting incorrect.

Their PPO / MCOA 5000 is priced good in most area. Dallas is not their best area.

They also have a good VALUE PLAN which limits to 2 visits / year but has preventative, physical, urgent care, and other great benefits.

The value 5000 has an adjusted commission the rest do not - so you need to check with broker support as they do pay different amounts.

As far as stripped down plans go this is in my opinion the only one that is pretty good and worth selling.

Their HDHP is tops in GA.

Copay plans nothing to write home about.

Their HDHP prices are pretty high because of the Embedded per person deductible.

Neither is price-competitive here in Florida (with the exception of a very small pocket in the Panhandle).

It's actually filed as an HMO here in the Sunshine State.

They had the same thing here until July when they added a few plans and dropped their rates . . . big time on the HDHP.

I can show a $3/$6k SIR for on a family for less than a $5k plan with Humana who has been beating everyone in that market. Wrote one today that was $344 vs $427 for a $5k with Humana.

In Michigan, good rates and coverage right now. The HSA plan is a little higher when compared to a family deductible plan with other carriers.

The bad, no broker assisted apps.
Difficult internet sales links and process for the customer.
Am doing most of mine the old fashioned way. Slow.

Not an oversight. This was a hard fought battle from what I understand. After all, they got way more of the healthy tob. users than any of the other carriers. I sent 90% of my tob. cases to aetna. The insider that told me about this, said the avg. sales person had no idea the bitter feelings caused by this decision.

Re: And Now...an Imoprtant Announcement From Aetna...             Go to Top

Aetna's pricing here has been so ridiculous the only business I could place were situations where there were cracks in their pricing and underwriting. Until July they got some (but not even the majority) of my tobacco users, folks with large families (3+ kids) but mostly they got type II diabetics, bipolar and a few other odd risks others would not touch or would only write subject to a rider.

My big beef with them still is the way they refuse to keep a family plan intact when one or more family members is a rate up. It makes no sense, especially on the HDHP to split off the rated family member and issue the rest of the family a different policy at standard rates.

I suppose this is the way they cherry pick but it limits the production I can or will place with them.

My client got hit with the 25%. I wish I knew that beforehand. Oh well, they took the plan anyway. How do you find out about this stuff in advance? I signed up for the Aetna newletter, never received one. They must not like me.

Actually, Aetna did notify brokers about this a few weeks ago. Easy to miss though.

Aetna's Ohio rates are ridiculously low (as Joe knows!) And if they smoke, it is not unusual to see Aetna with rates 40% below everyone (Norvax, that is).

Ohio health insurance is practically free at this point, yet people still do not buy it. It blows my mind.

All Aetna announcements are online in Producer World as well.

Good to know. I am hardly ever there as rates are over the top in FL. However, there are such times Aetna is a fit. The newsletter has never showed up so no big deal.

So since it is a rating, is it commissionable?

Does Aetna pay commish on ratings?

Not that it really matters, I just wonder. Best product for the customer, the money will work it self out.
