"President Obama signed SCHIP into law late Wednesday afternoon, hours after the House of Representatives voted to pass the bill 290 to 135. Supporters say the program expansion, which was twice vetoed by President Bush for being too costly and unwieldy, will cover almost 11 million children who don't qualify for Medicaid but whose parents cannot afford private health insurance. The bill expands SCHIP by more than $32 billion over five years."

The scary part is this is after a few WEEKS in office, we have four more years of this guys out of line policies and excess spending.

This week was rough - I don't know what I was more upset about SCHIP expansion or the government spending HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS to give deadbeats a digital tv converter?

I guess he needs a way to communicate with his base.

I just don't think the government has any place giving out t.v. vouchers this is absurd. The only senator with half a brain was from Texas (of course) speaking out today against the digital t.v. delay which I am outraged about the delay and voucher program.

When will this stop?

Time to start focusing on life insurance.

This plan gives health care to people that make less than $80K per year, allows children to stay on their parents insurance policy until age 28, and gives health care to illegal immigrants at tax payer expense.I also noticed that he gave a tax credit of $15K for home buyers. So if he cuts taxes on one hand, then raises expenses on the other, who pays for it?

Anyone that makes over $80K per year, that carries their own insurance will get a tax increase to pay for it since they won't qualify for the gov plan. So much for a tax decrease for everyone making under $250K, I mean, $200K, I mean $120k...per year?

As I understand it, it actually includes everyone in the household if the household income is less than $80K per year. That is how they can get the "children" to stay on their parents plan until age 28.

I find it hard to believe anyone under $80k household can get on this socialism plan. This is the biggest expansion to socialism in our nations history and it is virtually no where on t.v. - unreal.

This just popped up from PBS and you can see at the bottom of the article it mentions that the 5 year waiting provision for illegal aliens was dropped. This is obviously to ingratiate the illegals to the Democrats and Obama.

Just wondering how California is going to pay our share of the cost. We owe money to private businesses who will surely go out of business without payment.

I don't think it is the taxpayers responsibility to provide insurance coverage to children of families earning $80K.

On the other hand, I don't want to punish children by withholding medical care because their parents are idiots.

If there was only something like charities, mutual aid societies, churches, etc. that might step in. Oh yeah, the feds got rid of all that when they decided that welfare was a better way to go.

People on this board, like you, as well as those on other boards have this great propensity to engage in psychoanalysis. With no training, with no facts, and with no basis, they make wild statements on the mental capacity and disposition of people they always disagree with.

Most often what they post is nothing more than a projection of what they WANT to believe themselves. Rob, you say I must be miserable and that you find it "sad" but the truth is that you WANT to believe that. How many times do you see someone like Rob express the sentiment that his "opponent" is "sad" and "miserable." And they say it as though whomever they are talking about will (or should) care.

I can't think of one reason why you would conclude that I would care what any of you think about me personally. Why on earth would I care if Rob (or any of you) like me, or think I'm smart or dumb or am sad or am crazy?

Most educated people ARE interested in your ideas as they pertain to issues, but we hardly care what you think of OUR persona nor do we concern ourselves with your prognostications on our mental state. Why should I? I don't know Rob. I will never know Rob. I have no reason to want to know Rob. So why would I care if he thinks I'm miserable or sad (or elated and happy?)

I'm always interested in what people here (even the many right-wing, conservative dumb-asses) think about the issues facing our industry and our practice, and I think others in the educated, liberal-thinking, progressive minority are interested as well. But I, and probably most others, could care less about what that dumb-ass thinks about our character, or persona, our psychology, or our current mental state.

If you want to state and believe that someone is whatever it is you believe them to be... fine. But don't delude yourself that that someone really cares... because they most probably don't. There is no reason why they should.

One question I have for everyone on this board, why did Obama have the 5 year waiting provision for illegals taken out of the SCHIP program?
I guess that since they have broken our laws by being here that we get to reward them with free health care at tax payer expense?

As far as Obama campaigning in 57 states, isn't there supposed to be 57 member states for the Organization of the Islamic Conference or something. Kind of a strange slip up if you ask me, given his background and some of the speculation on him.
