What would you EXPECT the regional rep to say? That it was a waste of time?
Ohio has some good term rates but they recently closed their guaranteed UL. I think it is important for a carrier to have a G-UL for term buyers to convert to.
It's one thing to offer a client a carrier with rock-bottom term rates like Ohio National often has, but you have to also look at the bigger picture as to what options your client will have later on to convert to. Currently ON clients only have somewhat expensive WL or traditional (and in my opinion) unstable UL as choices... and that's not enough choice for me to offer clients who express an interest in getting term now with the intention of converting to perm later.
I think that if you live within a day's drive to Cincinnati and can afford the $400 (I think that's the cost) it is probably a worthwhile couple of days of classes especially for someone just starting out.
