Thanks for the feedback, I'm constantly looking for ways to improve the "feel" of the site. The "copy" was generic stuff and I plan to update/upgrade it to more effective sales copy as time goes on...first priority is to generate the traffic !
If you are trying to rank organically you will have a tough time doing so especially trying to go at it yourself.
Things holding you back include no content on HP, all duplicate content, and a .net domain.
Take your first sentence from this page: williams-agency.net/wp/life/
Now enter into Google: "If you have a family to protect, a sound life insurance program is the perfect solution. "
You and the rest of the world are just copying the same crappy content. Who actually owns it? Copyright issues and blacklisting on Google are only the start.
Looks good in my opinion. Don't know if you will generate trafic on your home page as there is no content there but the design looks good. I would suggest using more of the page to input relevant content for what you would like to quote. That is, if you are trying to drive traffic to your site.
We want you to be completely satisfied with your decision to join us. If, for any reason, you are not totally happy within 30 days from the date your insurance becomes effective with us, we want you to call or write and tell us. We will cancel your policy and gladly refund the entire unused premium you paid- no questions asked. No hard feelings either. Williams Agency does not charge a fee for early cancellation. All you need to do is call and speak with the licensed insurance advisor that wrote your policy or our office manager.
Can you cancel a client's policy? Don't they have to deal directly with the carrier for that? And why would the premium be in your hands to begin with? They pay YOU the premiums in Pennsylvania?
Well...I guess that is critique Like I said, I'm working on the sales copy daily....still hard to make insurance sound exciting
And yes, we do collect premiums from a good share of the clients. Either way, we can cancel at their request via the phone, email etc and promptly mail the refund.

How can you cancel via phone? As I recall, they have to send something in writing to the insurance company during the free look period (I seem to recall a request to mail the policy spec pages back too)--I would think the insurance company could be facing major lawsuits if they didn't get that info in writing. But maybe I'm out of touch.
Don't worry about making insurance sound exciting, just make your copy informative and engaging. If you try to insert fake enthusiasm, your readers will know. Write with the same charm, humor and personality you use to talk to clients and let that carry your facts from boring to enjoyable.
thanks for the suggestions on driving traffic, i will stick with the advice given to me by my seo guy for now and see if the traffic increases
If you are using an seo guy that copies content from other sites you are getting ripped off and not dealing with an seo guy. He is probably your sisters friends brothers girlfriends cousin that thinks he knows something about the internets.
Refer to this: www-dot-seobythesea.com/?p=212
(Im too new to post links apparently)
Now go get your refund and thank me later. A good SEO is not cheap and I guarantee you are not paying an SEO wage for your self proclaimed seo guy. He doesnt know ****.
Brooklyn, I'm using Dave Miller, not sure if he's my sisters cousins half brother or whatever, but I think he knows a bit I also have a great deal of respect for Dave so I'll ask that you keep the mudslinging to PM's
I don't know Dave Miller but I know that he doesn't know what he is doing after a 5 second review of your site.
Did you not look at the link I gave you? If you can overlook the obvious you deserve to waste all your money with this Dave Miller guy.
Really....Mr. Miller has helped me take my website to page 1 with 3 to 4 keywords as well as keywords I never even thought .....I have 2 $500,000 policys in underwriting right now as well as 3 solid leads this week which I feel good about writing 2 of them....the other one is in Alabama which I passed to a forum member.....so I have already wrote enough business to cover what I paid Dave to do.....snapperhead.....
Flashy looking site. visually its pretty appealing. despite the bashing of the "SEO guy" So many people do claim to know a lot about that topic and even make greater claims about promising top results.
Unless the SEO guy is a serious google expert watch out for those promises.
I will say the overall design is nice but the individual pages look like they could use some work.
*good luck with your site.
FYI, I'm sticking with D Miller on the SEO I spent some time with copy and graphic changes on pages and would appreciate any constructive feedback you can muster up except maybe the "boring" comments
Oh yeah, finally started seeing some of my articles published on ezine, articlecity, etc. posted a few videos on youtube,,,yada...yada
In my opinion it a friendly page for viewers. The tabs are very easy to access except maybe for the overwhelming sizes of the pictures. In general I like it.
The pictures wont have an effect on SEO. I think only flash would impact that but im no Guru in that department.
Flash is no better or worse than a picture or an audio file. The problem with flash, pictures and audio is that Google can't read them. It reads the text on the page and ignores those files. I have a javascript generated Flash character on most of my pages. I do OK in the SERPs.
If your page has no text on it it won't rank; that is the problem with Flash. Many pages are just Flash. Flash isn't the problem; the problem is the absence of text.
If you have Flash and text, your ranking will be based on the text and the Flash will be ignored.
Load time might be a problem. You can code around it with CSS. You can put the flash file last in your code and still get it to show up on the top of your page.
You can also write code in PHP (and I assume other languages as well) that keeps the Flash file from loading at all if the page loads slowly. On my sites if a visitor uses dial up, they will probably see a static picture instead of the flash file.
I've done a bit of web design in the past (not to say in the least it makes me a professional; actually, I think the key to a good web designer is to be a good marketer), and it was too busy for me. But that's my personal opinion. I guess I'm a black and white, to the point kind of guy.
I read this post, and quite frankly I am a little disappointed by some of the criticisms on this thread. This guy is asking for some pointers not to be ripped a new one. Your site is fine dude! Could it be better? Sure, but whose couldn't? SEO is an art and is never finished you can't just say one day, "I'm done!" It keeps going as you learn and learn to express yourself. The guy is looking for some little tidbits of hope and some guys are ripping him. The truth is your site is really well optimized, could it use some more fresh content? Yes! Do I love the design? Yes! Thats it! Do you need more SEO? No I don't think so, I think that you guys did a great job (although some more backlinks couldn't hurt!) Also your site is pretty old (in years not design) and in that respect your already way ahead of me, and Google will love you if you add some quality content, and no one can do that except you as only you can prevent forest fires. (sorry wrong forum, I am in recovery)
The dude wants some good ideas and I think that he is pretty brave to post his site and let it be judged. Also this is his CAREER not his hobby so we shouldn't be mean. Affordable Health Insurance Quotes for Fun People that don't Belittle Others
