Hello fellow agents. I am an Independent Insurance Agent in the state of Michigan. I am looking for insurance carriers to write standard home and auto insurance. Some of the insurance carriers I've contacted are not currently appointing agents to write business from Michigan. Any suggestions. Suggestions on either a direct company appointment or a GMA would be great.

I was hoping someone would have responded, as I would be curious of some carriers as well.
I can tell you this, Michigan can be one tough state to crack because of the auto part of it. I work in 6 states and Michigan is the toughest of the 6 to pick up carriers. I also have carriers that allow me to sell in my other 5 states, but tell me don't sell in MI.
a lot of carriers avoid MI like the plague due to the required unlimited medical benes, 530K of which is on the carrier.
