Looking to Move to Florida

I am looking to move to Florida, and I would like to know what some of the challages will be writting P&C business there. I heard at one time there was some sort of limitation set by the dept. of Insurance in Florida to the amount of new P&C business that you can write, is this true? Do you have to have a resident lic to sell property insurance there? I look forward to seeing everyones input on this.

The differences between writing p&C in Ohio vs Florida is like trying to compare the Earth with the Moon.

Where does one begin?

Your best bet will be to get hooked up with an established agency and "re-learn" the p&c business the Florida way which will take you at least one to two years.

The P&C market down here is completely different. You have probably never heard of the companies writing home owners. It's great for the independent agent, sucks for the captive guys.
