Phone and Netbook or Mini Notebook Combo

Anyone using a phone and netbook or mini notebook combo on the road.
I use my phone (HTC Sprint) for calls, navagation, email, compulife and a quick web search or to check pending. More than that is a pain. Thinking about adding a netbook to handle illustrations, planning and research when on the road. Someone told me I could teather the phone to a laptop.
Anyone using this type of setup? Any pros and cons?
