I am just getting started in the world of worksite benefits. I am independent and working under a guy who has relationships with over 30 companies in brokers.

What I want to know is what are brokers, then what are brokers brokers, and how does this big web of people all come together for agents? \

I find that my "independent" boss calls companies direct, then calls brokers, then brokerage houses and all these other terms and I am just trying to make sense of it all.

This is very common among insurance companies. Agents and brokers are the workforce that helps find clients or prospects that might need the insurance of the company.
