Agreed. The guarantee was indeed for GTL. They went south and now it's AC. If they fall out of favor with AC it's anyone's guess who the next contestant will be.

GTL has never really been a major med carrier, just a sideline player mostly in the life and ancillary health biz. My guess is the line was heavily reinsured, using GTL as a front with maybe 10% of the risk. They got in, got hosed, got out.

Money: Who cares - GTL was always a third world health insurer anyway. Just like American Republic. The only people who like to push these dinky boutique health insurers are greedy general agencies who get a large override on these policies. Again, who cares.

Money: If you want Goldstein lighting a fire under your ass every Monday morning to sell, go for it! American Community ROCKS MAN. They are the ONLY health insurance company.

I'm sure you do. Slime-balls like you who have zero ethics can always con some prospects into buying crap-plans... especially when dealing in the senior market. Yeah, I know who you are... and how you operate. You give ALL of us (or at least the few here in this venue) who are honest and have integrity... a bad name. Fortunately, sooner or later guys like you get fined or shut down by Steve P., the DOI (who is running for governor.)
Just as every dog has his day... your time will come.

Are the jabs directed towards Producers Alliance or American Community? I am a life agent wanting to take on only one health carrier. American Community seems to have a unique and affordable offering. Would appreciate any feedback, recommendation, etc.

Not an "A" rated company (A.M. Best Co.)
The downgrades reflect material unfavorable operating results in the last three years with corresponding decreases in surplus. The company's net losses resulted from inadequate product pricing, underwriting and reserving primarily within its group major medical segment in 2007. American Community's write-off of a discontinued information system in 2006 and a subsidiary, Precedent Insurance Company, in 2007 also contributed to the losses. Additionally, the lower surplus level includes two surplus notes representing a sizeable portion of the total amount. Related Results
American Community's premium revenue and net income are derived primarily from marketing major medical products to individuals and employer groups chiefly in seven Midwestern states and Arizona. Although the company implemented a number of corrective actions over the past few years to improve its performance, A.M. Best expects its future operating results will be challenged by an increasingly competitive major medical market dominated by larger managed care carriers with deeper network discounts.
