I have a friend who owns a small school bus company with his wife. He was put on permanent disability 3 years ago and has a family plan that he pays a heavy premium for. Is he eligible for Medicare if he still works in the office and receives a paycheck? Do you have to receive SSI in order to get the Medicare side of it?

Thanks

Typically have to be on SSI for 2 yrs before eligibility for Medicare A&B. As long as they remain on SSI then Medicare eligibility will continue.
