Are All Bankers Life & Casualty Agents ...

Re: Are All Bankers Life & Casualty Agents Liars?

Yeah, I remember seeing that. The funny thing is, I was initially trained by Great American and all of our managers were from
Bankers. That video is exactly the training I got from GA a few years ago and that's exactly the reason I left.

We just recently had a new girl start with us 1 month ago and she worked at GA for about 3 weeks before leaving them and joining us. While 4 of us were talking about new marketing idea's and cross selling, I mentioned that I really don't even go for LTCi anymore. Its time consuming and very hard to get people approved and very expensive. The new girl then said, "I like to make sure that I try to open their worry box when talking to a client"...lol

I said, no thanks. Im not a Bankers or GA agent.

I use to sell a lot of LTCi also. I stopped for the same reasons you did. The other reason is, I would spend a lot of time with the prospect only to have them say, "well, we're pretty healthy now, I think we will wait a while".

In the time it took me to sell a LTC policy I discovered that I could sell several Med Supps and make a lot more money.

Re: Are All Bankers Life & Casualty Agents Liars?

I ran into a combined " territory manager" today. This guy tried to sell my client a plan N for $50 more a month than the plan F I set her up with. He told her the premiums would not go up and that combined was a better company. I was wondering what box he checked on the replacement form but for some reason we couldn't find the form... Hmmm. So we called him to ask if there was a box to check that said " fewer benefits and more premiums". Lol. Needless to say he didn't return any calls.

^lol, I love when a client tells me, "I met with an agent the other day and he said this is his area to work with people going on to Medicare". As if, he was the only one allowed to work the area, or he's the area's specialist.....though I wouldn't mind if people thought that about me

Have you thought about telling your prospects/clients that?

I personally have never used that. I find that educating them, rather than trying to "sell" them is much more effective than anything else I have tried. I show them that I am the "go to guy".

The most frequent comment I receive after I have completed the app is, "Thank you for explaining it to me so I can understand it. No one has ever done that before". I have found that goes an extremely long way in not only creating persistency but loyalty.

Clients will call me when some other agent tries to replace my policy either asking what I think they should do or to tell me that they said "Frank is our agent and he is taking good care of us". It's all about educating them and staying in contact with them.

Toot, toot. That's me blowing my own horn. :D

I get the same responses too, I guess because I'm independent and a lot of agents are not, in my area. I definitely never try to act like this area is "my area" but I do let them know that I live very close to them....Ive found that they think its better if I live nearby.

I feel the same way about educating the client. I had to purge my bad habits that I learned from GA. I'm better at educating about medicare and supps, then trying to shove them down their throat

Re: Are All Bankers Life & Casualty Agents Liars?

As a former Bankers agent, I can honestly say ALL of them do not lie. If they are new to the business, they honestly don't know, they are only doing what they are taught. I know I never told anyone their premiums would never go up, and depending on if the program is a part of the cross-over program or how the hospitals bill, you may or may not have an issue with bills. Eventually they learn that the higher ups are crooked and they move on. Blame the big wigs, not the newbies.

I am sure you are right.

All Mega agents are not liars either.

Blame the system, not the agent, but . . . there are some things that should scream "this isn't right", even to a rookie.

Re: Are All Bankers Life & Casualty Agents Liars?

Thanks to the guy who posted the Inside Edition story on Bankers. I just had a lady cancel an appointment she made with me because some guy from Bankers sold her a Colonial Penn Med Supp. I tried to get her to still let me show her what I had but she seemed fearful I'd try to railroad her into buying something. So I just sent her a link to that story. Who knows if that will prompt her to talk to me, but at least she will have been warned.

Is sending her that link legal to do?
