I'm going into the medicare supplement field but will be keeping a full time job. I plan on eventually fazing out the ft job as I make enough money in the medicare field to pay my bills and my leads.

Since I'll be doing this part time have any of you medicare specialists done the same? If so, how many apps is considered good production for the first year? I'm only wondering. Thanks in advance.

I did that, only wrote a out 3-4 per month part time with a full time job. It will be much faster if you can just go full time from the start. For what I wrote part time in a year I did in about 3 months full time.

Also if you are going part time to start go as earned so you have income when you go full time.

What I did was work my Job overnights fri sat sun with halve nights during the week, I had months where I did 3 or 4 I had months where I did 15 , It is a tough thing to do for me it was necessary.Once I had a little resid I was able to cut my Job hours to just fri sat nights, I did that for another year then I was free

I worked insurance part rime for the first 10 years I was in business. I didn't have another job though...

I find my self to be doing that lately lol...

Anyhow, to answer the OP, you might try to work the problem backwards. Figure out what you want your annual goal to be. For example, if you want to have $1000 per month renewal income, and the average commission is $20 per app, then you might make it a goal to sell 1 per week for the first year (20x50=1000). Some weeks you will sell more, and some weeks you may sell none. If your goal is more focused on AP rather than commission, then approach it similarly, but with different numbers.

I understand what you're saying. The only thing is I went into the life insurance business originally and made the mistake of going ft commission with zero sales background which was just a bad idea altogether. I want to make sure I can pay my bills while I work the medicare field that way I'm not desperate for the sale. I can get better at sales as I go along.

I read a lot of Brian Tracy and one time he spoke about was (i think it was called this) zero based thinking where you look back into your mistakes and say "what could I have done to get passed this mistake" that mistake was when I went full on commission only with no guaranteed income.
