I submitted a med supp app to Continental recently. They have been holding it up for weeks because I failed to answer one question. (In their defense they did send an email to me at an address I changed years ago).

The question for my FEMALE applicant was "have you had an abnormal PSA test" and then it went on to specify what an abnormal reading was.

Since there was no "NA" box to check I left it blank. It's been held up because all questions must be answered.

I finally reached an underwriting manager Tracy Allen who disagreed that this was a stupid question for a woman because "There may be circumstances where a woman would have a prostate."

The stupidity is just amazing. She didn't have an answer when I asked how I would respond to "are you pregnant" question.

I have a call into the regional vice present about all this. Let's see if he calls.

I can't answer this but I am certain you can.

Does Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner still have a prostate?

Who knew it was so hard to answer, "are you pregnant" or "have you had an abnormal PSA test".

I spoke with the western regional sales manager who said that transgenders could have a prostate. I asked for the entire company (Aetna) just how many times this has come up. He told me he didn't know. I told him I could guess.

And of course it's illegal for us to answer that kind of a question. We have to ask our female prospects about their PSA and male prospects about their irregular paps.

Not sure what the problem is. The truthful answer is no. Since she does not have a prostate she has not had any abnormal PSA tests. And, I certainly haven't had any abnormal pap test results. However I am not so sure about some of the guys on the FE form... :)

No, but I think Ben runs a special on it in his boom boom room. Or was that a prostate exam? Could be both I suppose! You know, buy one get the other for free?

Several years ago, here in the greater metro Atlanta area, there was a male nurse performing prostate checks on male life insurance applicants as part of the basic paramed exam. This is why I've always told my applicants what a basic paramed consists of.

I don't know. There is a lot of competition in Vegas. He might have to up his game.
