Need Clarification on IEP for MAPD

i understand 3 months before, the month of, and 3 months after the start of pt B.
But does the MAPd need to start on the 3 month after, or can the insured sign up in the 3rd month after?

for example:
Pt. B starts Feb 1. today is May (3 months after the start of Pt. B). should the MAPD have started May 1? OR can they still enroll today, and have the MAPD start June 1?

Your prospect can become a client this month for a June 1 start using IEP assuming the Part B was due to IEP. If the Part B enrollment was due to loss of employer coverage for someone who did not take Part B at 65 the SEP for an MA/PDP is two months from Part B effective date. In that case your prospect is a couple of days late and has to wait.
