When does CMS release the Part B premium for 2017? I have looked around, and can't find anything definitive about it, only a lot of speculation.

Trustees report wanted $204.

COLA projection is 1%.

So new Part B might see $204 (when pigs fly during an election year).

Anyone currently on Part B can't get an increase greater than the COLA amount. So if COLA amount is 1%, they are getting 1% Part B premium increase.

(Doesn't apply to IRMAA people)

I'm telling anyone in the planning phase for 2017 to assume $200, because if its lower, they will be pleasantly surprised.

I was thinking about posting this exact questions!
What I can find is that they will release the info in October. $149 premium for B and $200 B deductible is what I hear.

They can only have that premium for people new to Medicare. The hold harmless provision will keep current Medicare beneficiaries premiums in check based on the COLA, if any.

From what I read...

The hold harmless clause will still roll into 2017 in some degree depending on COLA.

Senior advocacy groups will not allow for a large increase like they did last year which will leave the government scrambling for a solution.

It will be interesting to watch...
