Script for Calling Seniors

D. Lowery,

Here you go.

"Hi Jim

It's Dana calling.

Am I catching you at a bad time?

I know you don't know me, so let me take just a minute, I'll tell you who I am and what I do, and you can tell me whether or not we should keep talking.

Sound fair?

Great. I'm a local agent here in York, that's helped a lot of seniors like you save hundreds of dollars on their prescription drugs, eye exams, dental, and many other services.

I'd like to set up a time I can stop by for a few minutes and explain exactly how I may be able to do the same for you.

I have other appointments in York tomorrow, so I'll be nearby. Are Mornings or Afternoons better for you? How does 3:30 sound?

And are you still at 123 Main St?

Is there anyone else in the household that would benefit from in this information? Will he/she be available at that time as well?

Great, Go grab a pen, so you can write down my contact info. I'll wait..."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By the way, here's the best way to set up the calltools dialer so you more likely hear the first "hello":

1. Set the dial type to: Power Dialer.
2 Set Answer Type to: Live Answers & Voice Mails Connect to Agent
3. Set Channels Per Agent to: 1.0
4. Set Agent Connect Speed to: Fast

Track your Total Dials to Appointments Set. Don't worry about trying to track live contacts.

You can create a new disposition called "Appts Set" and checkmark "add to sale made for reporting purposes" to track your appointments. Just remember "sales made" means appointments set.

Hope this helps.

Hey, this is Dana.

Did I catch you at a bad time?

Great! I'm calling about the new state regulated prescription drug programs here in the state of Maryland. Before we begin, I need to get your first and last name. Great! Can I have my prescription drug card specialist call you back? Great! I'm a licensed prescription drug card specialist, I'll be in your area tomorrow, does morning or afternoon work better for you? Great! I'll see you at 12 ok?

[if they say no]

I just need to get this FREE prescription drug card out to you tomorrow. It'll only take 15-20 minutes.

[if they ask if it's a prescription drug card]

No ma'am, it's a final expense planning guide. It covers up to 100% of your prescription drug card expenses.

[if they ask how]

Because when you set the appt to get it, it's free. So will tomorrow morning or afternoon work better for you?

One thing that I learned is that when they say it's a bad time you can just keep talking. If they start talking while you're talking, just keep talking.

Wonderful!!
Thank You thomasm

Have you ever received a telemarketer call? If so, think about which ones you liked and which you didnt. Then pick which one you'd rather be!

Best of luck!

I've yet to hear even one that didn't force me to go "click." Ask any senior what their 3 biggest annoyances are..... Telemarketers will be #1......and then there is hesitation while they try to determine numbers 2 and 3. Sorry, telemarketing is so abused in the U.S. by so many industries that you'll be grouped right with them.

Don't ask if you are catching them at a bad time or a good time. That just gives them another out!
I disagree.

There's a scientific reason my script is worded the way it is. I've tested it on thousands of calls.

And asking if it's a "bad time" is more effective than asking if it's a "good time". I don't know why... it's just is. I tested it.

By the way, the best way to hone your script is track exactly where people hang up on you. I used to get hung up on within the first sentence.

Now when I do, it's usually the third or fourth sentence in.

Why? Because the first two parts of my intro buy me some time to get a little rapport built before they even know why I'm calling.

Asking if it's a bad time shows that I respect their time, but it's really just a pattern interrupt.

The second part is about getting a commitment out of them. If they don't agree to that simple request for a minute of their time, then they are not someone you want to be wasting your time with anyway!

When you're cold calling, you got to change your posture from a desperate tele-marketer to a disqualifier. You only want to talk to people who are worth your time, and can understand the value of what you're offering them.

Okay, but my experience says differently. I do agree with calling them by their first name, at least in the very beginning of the phone call.

Not true. Some telemarketers are really cool. I chat with them from time to time, but they dont call nearly as much as they used to.

If you are on a lead program, you can afford to have that mentality.

For the rest of us, that type of thinking is ALL IN YOUR MIND!

Just like calling on Sundays- It's never as bad as you think it is going to be!

Yes, it is true....in "my" experience telemarketers are viewed as a nuisance and in most cases despised.....and 99% of Americans agree (research online). They are imposing and in many cases are simply ignoring the "no call list."

I'll say it again: "C L I C K" :skeptical:

So, you don't mind annoying the masses for the 1 or 2 that might listen to your pitch?
