What Would You Do if You Were Me?

Oh I get it. I really do. I just can't believe Blue washes their hands of any responsibility. Oh wait, yes I can. It's the Blue way.

I'm thankful Blue isn't competitive here. Although I do get a nice check from them every month. But that was a fluke. Kind of a long story so I won't bore anyone with it.

FL Blue is very unique company.
Typical for Florida.

I just got a surprise in the mail. The local Florida Blue CGA that I moved my appointment to paid me renewals on the business I had placed with him even though I am no longer affiliated with Florida Blue. Now that is an honest CGA.

We're all grateful for that. You've bored us enough already.

That is very good news for two reasons: first is you have some of your money, second is that by paying you even one check he acknowledged a contractual obligation to pay you the renewals. If he stops, he will not win a court case if you argue that he promised he would pay you renewals, even if nothing is in writting. He can no longer take a position that there was no agreement for continueing your renewals.

This happened to me with an employer here in Florida (not insurance). He paid two weeks of a six month severence. Because of that, he had no legal standing to asssert there was no six month severence agreement. It took me three years and $25,000, but I got my money. :twitchy:

I got renewals for the CGA in Jacksonville 1 year on the MAPD business that I wrote through his agency, but not since. Are you saying that he is obligated to pay me even though I am no longer affiliated with his agency or Florida Blue?

Probably depends on the contract you signed. If it states renewals will continue after you leave as long as the policies are in force, then yes.

Do you have a copy of the contract you signed?

Just read your original agreement, it says that they can terminate you with 30 days notice for any reason, at which time your commissions end.

As I have said (from my own experience), it's a Florida Blue casino where the only winners are CGAs
