Whats Going On In Texas?

So will people on Medigap plans other than F or G start to see their excess charges go through the roof soon?

The article does not lead to that conclusion.

but it does not, not lead to that conclusion either. It seems to me, if the primary reason they are not wanting to accept medicare anymore, it is because they want the ability to charge more ie: excess fees.

Either that, or they are simply not going to accept medicare at all. At which point, the patients may need to find a new doctor

not going to accept medicare at all

That's the way I read it. Opt out of Medicare completely and bill what you want. Some specialists are already doing that.

In that situation the claim is not filed with Medicare, never passed on to the Medigap carrier.

That won't fly.

Medicare cuts like this can interfere with your access to proper health care.

What if a doctor refuses to accept Medicare patients with poor potential outcomes? If the doctor will be penalized due to the Medicare cuts why not take the road less complicated and simply treat patients that are low maintenance?

Hospitals can do the same, and some already have. Many Georgia hospitals have closed their emergency rooms and maternity departments due to low reimbursement. Emergency rooms and maternity are money losers for hospitals. If they are already losing money on these areas what is to stop them from refusing to admit patients with difficult to manage conditions?

These Medicare cuts are designed to save the federal government money but they will also lead to less access to care.
