Seems like you haven't moved beyond the same quest since mid-November. What Is the Best way to market MAPD to seniors
Your post yesterday was asking how to start an FMO.

... It would appear that you really don't know what you are doing. I doubt you will find enough gullible newbies here to fill your basket. I suggest you learn the trade before you try to bite off more than you can chew.

I don't think it'd be that difficult to find people who are gullible and would sign up, but the chance of success is low. You might be MUCH better off spending time working with a good organization and getting experience. There is nothing to say that you can't keep recruiting agents and start to grow a larger team, but it's a good idea to not get ahead of yourself. I'm watching some of my agents try to start agencies and they're getting pretty banged up. Having a team and producing leads is one thing, but running an Agency takes skills and experience most agents just don't have. If your serious about growing a team and eventually being a GA you should get contracted under an FMO that will train you and give you contracts that can grow with your organization. If you're having a hard time with that or want to have a more in depth conversation about this shoot me an e-mail and I can help. If the e-mail doesn't work just visit my website and send me a message from there.

Its amazing how arrogant people can be, you post two threads on a forum all of a sudden they all know your life story and where your at in your career.
Get a life Ill live mine

If anybody would like to answer my first and original question, without an opinion involved that would be great

First, everyone here has opinions. There are no exceptions. That being said, some are more friendly and helpful, others not so much. Welcome to the internet!
Second, if you want help starting a GA send me an e-mail with more specific questions. Some starter questions I have for you are how many agents do you have? Do you already have an FMO? If you already have an FMO, why aren't you going through them? What states are you licensed in? What products do you represent and what are your primary companies/products?

Send me an e-mail and we can go from there.

Re: SENIOR INSURANCE GA,s             Go to Top

Contact an IMO and talk to them about starting an agency. You'll have to have x amount of agents under you with x amount of production before someone will give you a GA contract.

Some agencies wont care, they give out GA contracts with no problem.

What kind of GA operation are you looking to run? Are you looking for something that is just local where agents come into an office and use you for support/training? Are you looking to have agents in multiple states where you may not offer them too much support? Are you looking to do a combo of the above two scenerios?
The problem with your question is that it is too open ended. There are so many questions you should be asking about being a GA and alot of answers you need in order to be efficient with this. Why don't you give me a call and we'll see where you are really at and then move forward from there.

If you are building a Corporation (Agency) then you need to first have a team, second you need some experience or have the experienced on your team. Its all about knowing the right people, who can get the best leads, who can give you the best contracts and how to make a profit while having agents working for you as well. Its not an easy task, and though experience is important it is not as important as knowing how to run a business.

I have a Final Expense product completely over the phone, Great Contract and a Great Lead Source that could help you and your Agency Grow but you have to always do the right thing for your Agents and Never Yourself. Keep your Agents First and your Agency will Prosper.

Great post jsrconcepts.

Before you can build an "agency" you first need to build a client base. In other words, you need to become successful as an agent, build a client base, and know what you are doing and the best way to do it. Learn to walk before you start trying to "run".

You have to be able to show other agents that you are capable of teaching and helping them to become successful. Simply calling yourself an "agency" isn't going to cut it.

Once you become successful, then and only then, will you be able to mentor other agents. If you don't know "how to do it" you will never be able to teach others.

Although I complimented him on his post I do somewhat agree. His basic advice is sound, especially the part about how to treat agents, but as you pointed out a little spamy. If that is as "bad" as it gets I can overlook it this time. After all, he is a "new kid" on the block.

Great post !

Here's another way to look at it. When you were little you did this to learn how to get around:

1) Crawl.
2) Learn to stand up.
3) take your first step. (look for a parent to catch you when you fall)
4) Walk on your own
5) Run

I don't know you and where you are in this sequence but you are very motivated.

I am in the process of building my own agency and currently have four agents contracted. Only one agent is working..... me ! But I'm making money and they are not. I don't think they are going to be worth my time.

Good luck and listen to the advice given by these insurance professionals. They know what they are talking about !

There are probably half a dozen on here, what are you looking for? Leads? High Commission? Training? All of the above? Ok, that last one was a joke, but seriously, what would you call a good FE agency?

Insurancewife,

Why are you concerned about what carriers / IMO's an agent is blacklisting.

If you have a reply to why one should not be, please feel free to start your own thread on the topic.

Thank you,

Mike

My concern is that this this broker is releasing personal info about about agents/recruiters/marketers!!!!! Personal info should not be released or post on this BLOG's this is a "professional outlook" on changes within Medicare (i.e. insurance plans...) NO ONE SHOULD EVER FIND THERE HOME ADDRESS on these BLOG'S.... that's INSANE!!!! I don't can who you think you are : user name "theinsuranceguy". This posting is from the wife of "medsupprecruiter"!

Thank you for your response to this posting and for your personal awareness!
