So, a few times on here I've alluded to the story I tell many of my clients about my dad's fight with cancer. That story has sealed a few deals - it's a true story that drives the need for comprehensive coverage home.

Too bad I don't sell P&C, because this one would have been a doozy:

A tree fell on my fiancee's aunt's house this morning, destroying the roof and two cars.

Nobody was hurt. Both cars are totaled. The roof will have to be completely re-done, but there was nearly no interior damage.

Happy Monday!

That was a bad storm that came through GA.

Insurance is nice to have, and if you don't have it, then your screwed.

I'm lucky that I don't have any big trees around my home.

We had the ice storm of the century here in Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky this winter. I was without power 5 days and some places were out more than 2 weeks. I lost two trees from my yard across my drive way. One was a 30 inch 40 foot tall maple and the other was a 12" scotch pine. I found out that my insurance policy (Pekin) pays up to $1,000 per tree for storm debris removal with no deductible. Neat! That story would probably sell some policies. They sent me a check without doing anything but me talking to the adjuster on the phone and faxing a copy of the bill.

I have told you before. You have a story that is true and one that resonates with a lot of people.

The rest of us who have been around a while also have stories. Some personal, some not, but all are true.

The paycheck is nice but, for me at least, the real payoff is knowing I have helped someone.

When your story starts to sound canned, get away from it for a while and replace it with something else.

People buy for two reasons.

They always buy on emotion, even those who are price shoppers. If the decision doesn't feel right they don't do it no matter how good the price.

They also buy from those they trust. They trust you, or they trust an anonymous website. Might as well be you.
