I read your blog. You will never hit MDRT because with you and 95% of the neo-con agents on this board, all you care about is money, money, money. You don't think your clients will see that? Why not? I see it here... and I'm no rocket scientist. People know greed when they see it.
Nothing wrong with greed as long as both parties benefit. This is Capitalism 101. What is wrong with this scenerio?
Don't tell me about helping people because you and I both know that helping people sustains (or creates) a "mentality that is bringing this country to its knees."
Nothing wrong with helping people. Expecting a privately owned forum to cater to your wishes when you pay nothing for it is the issue.
When I think of people who are helping bring our society to it's knees it is the rampant selfishness, greed, and avarice that young guys like you buy into... you have no social conscience... it's all about the money. It's all about YOU.
That's a strong statement when you don't know me.

So you would end all regulation of privately owned businesses? That is the logical extension of what I think you are saying.

You are right. I take it back. I don't know you. But more to the point... from what you have posted in this thread... I probably don't want to know you. (Most here would consider you blessed!) You are just another neo-con... in the company of 10,000 more in this venue.
I do, however, enjoy your well-written and well-conceived blog from time to time. I'm sure it reminds a lot of us about the difficulties we had our first year or two in the biz.
Keep writing it... and perhaps try to put the neo-con mantra of greed, selfishness, and avarice off to the side every so often and try to develop a "consciousness" that will help you understand that there is greater pleasure and higher rewards for being your brother's keeper, instead of his malefactor. I know you won't believe this but you will never get to the MDRT by believing that life is a zero-sum game. Eventually your generation will learn that. I was fortunate that having a strong social, humanistic social responsibility was part of the culture that I grew up in.
It's fine for you to want to make a good living, but do it fairly, do it honestly, do it with integrity, and do it without harm, jeopardy or malfeasance to your fellow humans on the planet. None (or very little) of this is part of the neo/arch-con credo and as such it would be to your advantage to listen more to Jesus and a bit less to those here who exemplify what said arch-conservatives would have you believe as the "true path."
I know you won't believe this but you will never get to the MDRT by believing that life is a zero-sum game.
That we agree on, my blog may sound self centered, but that is only because it is my journal on my progress. My clients are loyal to me, it didn't come from being self centered.

Unfortanetly, it is now a thing of the past, a victim of a lawsuit happy society. Due to firm policy and FINRA advertising rules (even though it was never intended for public advertising), I couldn't keep it up. It was made very clear at our last compliance meeting this wasn't allowed and would be grounds for termination. Even though I posted anonymously, too many people know who I am personally on this forum that I couldn't risk keeping it posted online. You may call me a push over (or maybe not), but I've worked too hard and love what I do too much to put it at risk.

Fair enough. We probably wouldn't have much in common on life philosophy or politics. Then again, I do have a fair number of liberal friends and I'm still friends with them no matter how wrong they are!
As a side note, do you have to vote Republican to be a neo-con? I haven't in two elections, but I haven't voted Democrat either.

Hmm. I had the distinct impression that you were an independent. I also didn't know you were security licensed. As for stopping your blog... I'm sure you are not happy about it, so perhaps the words of Henry David Thoreau will console you to some degree:
If the injustice is part of the necessary friction of the machine of government, let it go, let it go; perchance it will wear smooth — certainly the machine will wear out. If the injustice has a spring, or a pulley, or a rope, or a crank, exclusively for itself, then perhaps you may consider whether the remedy will not be worse than the evil; but if it is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law. Let your life be a counter friction to stop the machine. What I have to do is to see, at any rate, that I do not lend myself to the wrong which I condemn.
Just because someone wants to attain MDRT doesn't mean it's "all about greed".
It's a level of status in the insurance community that you have STAYING POWER.
It's an indication of how many people you have HELPED.
BTW, some of the most selfless people I know are members of the MDRT.
How many past-presidents of the MDRT do you know? (I know 2.)
Now, I'm not yet at MDRT status. Even when I am, I'll probably have 1 plaque for it and that's it. Why? I want to show the level of SERVICE I can be, not display how many awards I've won.

^^^^^^^^^^^^ This. Well said, DHK.
Al, if you had the cure for cancer, how many people a day would you try to convince that you did? You talk about being humanistic and adding value to society as something we all should strive for. Isn't attempting to protect families from catastrophe humanistic and adding value to society?

What a joke this 'forum' has become. The owner is now a sell out to an MGA that pretends not be one. The posts are nothing but wise cracks from hillbillies with 7th grade educations. Want completelly misguided information? Join the forum!
I understand your frustration - When I found the website I thought it would be a great place to share ideas with professionals and while there have been some posts I've read worthwhile, I could certainly do without all the childish dribble back and forth, as well as the silly off subject quirts that several participants publish I suppose out of boredom or the need to read something they typed I can't imagine why else they would take the time to enter so much junk that is worthless to someone in the forum for business related reasons. I read some of the backlash your comment generated and that's a shame because there would be more valuable content in the forums if those participating would take the opportunity seriously and keep their dribble for facebook or myspace. Hopefully you can sort through the time-wasters and find some content of value occasionally.

You can actually ignore him, literally. There's an ignore feature.
