Hello, out of all these 3 companies, American General, Mutual of Omaha or Monumental Life, which would you recommend to a newbie to get training from?

Also, does anyone knowif Mutual of Omaha would train you even if noncaptive, same with Monumental Life, would any of these company field train you as a noncaptive? And as far as products go, as a consumer, which ones do you think have the best rates in term life, which would you buy from? Thanks.

I can't tell you anything about training with any carrier. Based on products, reputation, I would suggest MOO.

I doubt any will offer training if you are not captive.

If you are captive I think all three will train you. If you are not captive I don't know that any of the three will train. I don't think you can broker Monumental products. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I offer Monumental contracts but it is a different product for brokers than captive agents.

The broker version has the nursing home rider on it.

Thanks to both of you for your input, with Monumental, if you are a broker w/ them, do you think a local office would be willing to field train a new agent. I am going to meet w/ these companies, just curious if anyone knows?

I am actually in the process of interviewing with Mutual of Omaha here in Atlanta. They offer training and support and the whole nine yards. I will not be captive at all. So it's a good deal in my opinion.

Hi Derek,

I tried to PM you but it said I couldn't until I post a total of 20 so my question was did they give you an option not to be captive or are all agents automatically not captive? Also what is your commission? I did actually get in touch w/ a recruiter but haven't had a chance to ask him questions yet, he sent me a questionaire that I need to fill out or test.

The District Sales Manager will go over the pay plan with you. You will need to take the test for them to know if you are a good fit or not. They will also do a background check on you. Other than that, nothing to it, really.
