I am assuming this is Group LTD. It does not pay your health insurance premiums. You will only receive money if you become disabled due to sickness/illness or an accident after a certain period of time, usually 3 months.

Also, if you signed up for group LTD that means that your policy is considered voluntary and more than likely has a pre-existing condition limitation. So if you are currently sick and you signed up expecting immediate benefits, then you may be in for a surprise.

Check with your employer, HR, or current broker to verify and confirm any of that information though.
