Re: Telemarketed Leads             Go to Top

My guess is they are a very new company. This brings up questions of stability, lead quality, etc.

I would suggest getting at least one reference that you can call and talk to. This will give you some insight into how they operate. Make sure the reference is basically using the same plan that you would be using (not sure they have anything else).

Without a reference, I probably wouldn't proceed. I would also make sure the reference has been using them for a fair period of time, not just the last week or 2.

I would send them a money order before a cashiers check. A money order is $0.49, a cashiers check is $6.00.

Paul - Your just jealous, Tom would win.... (see, it really is all about spin!)

Number of marketing methods implemented in the last 24 months: Tom wins very handily.

Number of agents added under yourself to support your growth: Tom would win again.

Percentage gain of written premium over previous year: I'll take a guess that Tom would win on this one again (0 to anything is much larger)

Ohh, you wanted to do a serious comparison, starting with something basic, like net profit????? Shame on you for worrying about details when so much spin is available!!!!

Dan

P.S. In fairness, Tom may not win in all categories mentioned. The categories do not in any way measure success, but I like the play along at home type of game!

The information does include basic parameters of age, build, known conditions, etc. I have not been able to find any reference on hear about them. The price is only $14.95 per lead and sounds to good to be true. Only commitment is for 20 leads at roughly $300. I also tried Google to source out information, but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I doubt that these "set appointments" will be worth much more than the paper they are printed on.
It costs around $20 to purchase ordinary telephone leads, so I fail to see how some company can make the lead for less and also set an appointment.
In my opinion you will spend much more than $300 in wasted petrol

Re: Telemarketed Leads             Go to Top

Just an update on the telemarketing lead service. I went ahead and gave it a try for $300. They took a week longer than expected to start (part of that was my fault do to some scheduling issues). They gave me two free appointments to see what I thought. Neither was very good and I was starting to get nervous. As of this morning, the sales rep called me and told me this was there first attempt at this in the southeastern Michigan market and that after 5 hours of calling they came to realize this was a tough market. She emailed the information for 5 people that were interested in talking further, but did not schedule an appointment as well as the scrubbed list of everybody they had called. She apologized for the problem and is refunding all of my money and I get to keep everything they sent. She stated they would continue to try and set appointments for me and that if successful then we could settle up at that time, but she did not want to hold my money under false expectations. I doubt they will continue to try, but they were very professional about the situation and offered the refund without my even asking. I hope they have better luck in other parts of the country, because my impression so far as that they are a stand up organization.

All markets are tough. In Texas some areas require 40 calls to make one lead, whereas in the Dallas area it takes 77 calls to make the same lead. That is why telephone leads cost so much.
