Somebody finally figured out you can burn wood to make steam and generate electricity.
Wow, what a novel idea!
Wood making comeback as power source ...
But as the article mentions, the environmentalist (tree huggers) will not be happy (go nuts).
Notice how the article identifies trees as a renewable resource. Somebody at least got that part right. Trees are a crop, just like corn. They just take a little longer to grow.
And if you don't clear out mature timber, eventually it diseases, falls down, then rots, which creates kindling. Then God eventually comes along and burns that unless we clean up the mess and manage the forests that he gave us.
NOTE to Rick: Sorry about the God reference. For you that would be random acts of nature, such as lightening, which occur and which causes fires to ignite and burn the dead wood, and all the forest around it.

Do you think if I became an atheist I would be a better person. Please keep in mind that most atheists are liberals or communists.
So you are making the argument that you are a better person than Rick? Are you making the argument that Christians are better people than... say Muslims or Hindus or Sioux or Cherokee?

Why am I not surprised?
I asked if being an atheist would make me a better person. I believe the ONLY person that I was referring to was me and the only person I was putting the question to was Rick.
Here we have a perfect example of liberal discussion strategy. The minute a liberal reads something that they don't agree with, scream racism.
About what? Everyone is born an "atheist". For a Christian to go "back" to that would be to become "endarkened".
I would venture to say it is impossible to become "unborn" once; how would one become "unborn" again?

Just let it go guys, no use arguing over whose better, spread the love not hate (hmm..i sounded like a..hmm never mind) Well anyway going back to the thread, i love trees and the environment and its ok to use it as a power source again just as long as they don't use it too much as to deplete it. There should be more planting than that of consuming..there should be a limit on when to use and how much. But i guess they already know that.

You are correct. One of the biggest problems arising from using forests for timber is because so much is government owned and leased to lumber companies.
If they were sold to the companies, planting and harvesting would be much more likely to be eco-friendly. People that own tend to take care of the "cash cow" more than people who rent.
We tend to be better custodians of our own rather than that this not ours.
I googled the trees/Columbus matter and it is an argument going back and forth. I think we will have to wait until the Satellite pictures from 1492 have been developed. They haven't come back from Kodak yet.

Rick
You sinner. That is blasphemy. Government land is God's land. We can't hand it over to corporations to pillage.
Ooops, that was Rick. That is capitalism gone bad. Government land is the natural way. Individuals and corporations can't be expected to be good stewards of the land. Only those in public service can manage land.
