Crap, get a good net meeting company and i don't even have to send the link for the app, do it right there with them. sending the link to do the app... no way, i want to control the entire process.
Now there are clients that do it on their own and i never talk to them.... they just log on to my website or the email i sent them(which is why i was pissed at norvax today) and do it without my imput

Just curious, how many apps can a GOOD agent submit per week with this method of doing business?
Re: Typical Day for a Health Insurance AgentGo to Top
Well, thats firing on all pistons... and having my leads on full throttle
You will burn out rather quickly which i have done several times, with my renewal base i set a goal of about 4 new peices a week not counting my re sell of existing clients and limited referrals comming in... a new agent i dont think can execute 10 brand new clients a week... u dont have existing base or a referral base... 10 new apps can and has been done... but u will burn out fast.

I recently left a captive agency and we were operating the exact way you described for sure.
My typical week was receiving 15 new "A" leads on Monday, get as may appointments that I could and call "B" leads for the rest of the day (10 hours). Repeat Tuesday (10 hours). Head to my territory on Wednesday, get a motel room and write business f2f Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. My territory was 2 1/2 hours from my house. Great app count, but burnout city.

Re: Typical Day for a Health Insurance AgentGo to Top
Monday:
8 a.m. Take MARTA to the Ga. DOL office. Use their computer, copier, fax, printer. Sit next to someone who is in job search mode, tell them what I do, and that I lead a Job Seekers meeting across the street every Tuesday evening. Give them my card.
9 a.m. Walk 1/2 mile down Clairmont Road to the Palmer Agency, and drop off quotes to be run and e-mailed to me. Talk to the people there, and find out what's new in the industry, and get some product/company information.
10 a.m. Walk to the corner, and get MARTA back home. Cold call using INFOUSA and FREECRM side by side. Concentrate on small businesses, since no one else is giving them the time of day
11:30 a.m. Check in on LinkedIn, Plaxo, Naymz, and this place.
12 p.m. EAT LUNCH and Listen to Neal Boortz Information Overload hour
1 p.m. Conduct a webinar, on VYEW.com - get anywhere from 2 to 10 attendees. Topics cover anything to do with Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Medicare or Long Term Care
2 p.m. Check e-mail and do anything that needs to be done in the way of follow up
4 p.m. Watch Judge Judy
4:30 My son gets home from school Make sure he has homework, and if he's "forgotten" anything at school, we get in the car and get it, much to his dismay.
8 p.m. Watch Dancing with the Stars or Monday Night Football. If my Redskins are on TV, drown my sorrows in beer and gin.
11:35 Watch Jay Leno, only for the Monologue and Headlines, then go to bed
Tuesday
8 - 11:30 Go into the office, be seen by the Financial Planners and Securities agents in my office, and have them give me leads of clients of theirs
11:30 - 1:00 Have lunch with someone at the diner on the main floor
1:00 - 3:30 Make follow up and cold calls
3:30 p.m. Take MARTA back home, network on the train and bus, handing out my cards

So, four or five with this method would be respectable for a newbie? (lets face it, I am/will be a newbie again)
Re: Typical Day for a Health Insurance AgentGo to Top
Actually sounds like a pretty stress-free way to make a living! So, you are doing cold calls on the phone. I actually like that because you'll have a chance to reach people who havent yet discovered the online quotes.
BTW, you know what MARTA stands for? Moving Africans Rapidly Through Atlanta.
........... ducks.............
(It's ok, I'm an "American of African.... and Native American....... and Irish... Descent. I'm allowed to bust on myself).

Death -
The MARTA "joke" may not sit well with some . . .
That comment aside, like all other threads & responses, there is truth and BS . . . sometimes from the same poster. The key is to sort thru the BS to find the pony.
Some of us work almost exclusively online while others mix it up.
Can you write 10 apps in a week?
My best week was 9.
I probably should have bought a lottery ticket that week, but I didn't.
Fact is, production is unpredictable. Some weeks I write 5 or 6, others 2 - 3 and some weeks I blank.
How is that any different from belly to belly?
The difference is, I am not wearing out my body or car and I am much more productive.
Online quotes, email, web conferencing, e-apps (with credit cards . . .) are just ways to make life easier for all of us.
I can't imagine why people would be willing to set aside time for agents to file through their home or business pitching their wares.
All of us have busy lives and things happen.
Two days ago I had an "appointment" to take an app at 4PM. When I called, the lady told me something had come up, could I call her the next AM.
No big deal. Still time to make a few more calls.
Had I been in the car when I discovered our appointment was bust the next hour or so would have been wasted.

Re: Typical Day for a Health Insurance AgentGo to Top
I doubt many of us have a 'typical' day or even a typical week. You can generalize, prospect, prospect, sell. And then repeat. From there, things differ.
Working by yourself, 10 policies a week is probably not sustainable. 10 policies in one week can be done, but it's because of groundwork laid weeks prior, or just sheer luck, or probably, both.
If you are writing 10 policies in one week, you are not filling the pipeline for the next weeks business.
I think my best week was 23 policies (mind you, mostly P&C), but I paid for it for the next month in trying to clear everything up.
When looking at production, you really need to look at a minimum of a month, and better, a weekly average over a quarter.
Fortunately, I haven't had a blank week in quite some time. I'm actually looking for one... need to take a week off.....

If you don't have an on/off switch, reset your monthly max to the amount you have already received. Norvax works this way.
By the way, I wake up when I am finished sleeping. Do the three S's, eat and walk into my office by 9 or 9:30 and give out at 9 at nite like right now. In between, I call people and teach them what I know and some will buy. I also go out once in a while to enroll someone nearby or run an errand or just take the Vette to the beach for a mid-morning break. Sometimes I'll take a nap.
