Typical day - hit the phone and hopefully talk with some folks who want to talk with me. Show them some plans online and discuss underwriting and online enrollment - repeat.

I wanted to ask some of the experienced agents for a little bit of advice. I have been in this biz for about a year. After getting in with an "Independent" broker who was more captive as they made you push one product, I went out on my own to learn what else was out there. I have taught myself to run my biz over the internet and phone like many of you are. I write for the major carriers about equally, Humana, Aetna, Cigna, UHC, etc.
I will only do what is best for the client and this has lead to many referrals which helps my monthly numbers. Each month that goes by gets better and better which is great but I want bigger numbers. Right now my best month is 10 apps and as of right now I am on track to beat that this month. I buy many of my leads and prefer exclusive. I have put money into many lead sources as well as shared and I prefer exclusive even though the cost is normally double.
I am 26 and have owned 2 business' prior to this so I understand ROI and the basics of how biz works. I am spending maybe $250 a month on leads and I want to take the next step investing much more but am a bit apprehensive. I have a good ROI on my leads but I am curious as to what amount is a good number. I figure that the more I spend the quicker my monthly income will grow therefore the faster I will be able to pay off the lead expense. What is a realistic number in regards to getting my monthly avg up without overwhelming myself. I also have set up relationships with other Life agents that send me a great deal of biz which is split. It is free money but the split will not get me to where I want to be. Any advice?
