Rogue health carriers are real fun come renewal time (their renewals are usually massive and well above average because they dont have the client base to support any claims, thus the rates get jacked). Again I ask: Why even mess with em? There seem to be so many people who are preoccupied with the 'new' carrier of the hour. Who cares!

There must be some kind of kickback to people who spam links all over the web. What a wonderful way to pick up a few dollars.

You obviously are either ignorant or have no knowledge of USHealth Group. Stop posting 'rogue' responses that are crap!

I offer USHealth Group all the time. I'm a 'career agent' with them but not captive. Anyone else have a HSA earning 5.15%? There was NO rate increase in the state of North Carolina for 2009. Can any other insurance company say that? This carrier I would recommend to anyone for their top notch customer service to their insurance plans. Absolutely NO issues with this company who is owned by Credit Suisse.

I have my own insurance with them so my experience with USHealth Group is from both sides, as an agent & customer.

Re: US Health Group             Go to Top

Rivers1: Please post the HSA plan brochure link here that you sell that offers no caps on outpatient surgeries and prescriptions. All the plans I can see seem pretty weak. Am I missing something here? By the way, if WalMart or McDonalds owned US Health Group I could care less. Credit Suisse means nothing to me. Over 5% on an HSA is great, I agree, but won't help you much if your HSA health plan craps on you in either of the above categories. Which one offers comprehensive outpatient surgical coverage and full Rx coverage with no caps after the deductible?

Rivers, are you aware of the history of Freedom and National Foundation in offering major med?

I haven't seen their products in years. They were captive, then brokerage. Last I heard they were captive again. Can't seem to find a brochure online for their product line. I suppose you have one you can provide.

Re: US Health Group             Go to Top

(Not directed at somarco, but to HealthGuy.)

So now I need to prove something to you after the trashing you gave the company? How quaint.

MedEquity HSA

5 million lifetime from day one on outpatient procedures or prescripts. Brochure doesn't show 1 million for transplants but I include this with every applicant. I don't sell on brochures because they never tell the whole story with any company. Having my own coverage with them means more than any words on a glossy brochure with cute pictures.

I left BC/BS because they were crushing me with rate increases yearly and treated me(as with everyone else) as just a number. Not so with USHealth Group. You can also lock your rate in for four years. So if you lock-in for four years and when the time comes to renew, lock it in for another four years... that's one rate increase within an eight year time frame. Any other carriers out there doing this?

Claims are paid 85% of the time within the first fifteen days and 96% within the first 30 days. Most carriers stall and look to deny coverage before they pay, USHealth Group doesn't. That's where the Credit Suisse backing comes into play whether you care or not.

This isn't the only carrier I represent since everyones needs are different and I always want to do right by the client, but they're high on the totem pole.

Yes, very familar with the history. Once Ben Cutler(formerly built Fortis & Assurant) came over and Credit Suisse got onboard, the company's name changed from Accent Assurance, & everything has been great.
Ben

I'm an independent agent, I can choose to work with any carrier, and only pick a few. Why? Because I visit each companies home office and spend a few days to check-out operations before I will represent their product. I've visited ALL the major player companies, but only chose four to represent, US Health Group was one of these.

I could go into more detail here but prefer to do it by way of private message.

OK, send me a brochure on their current product line. I don't do PM but you can email me. See my profile.

Looks like US Health is partnered with Universal Marketing & Gary Beck.

Rivers1: Here is the verbage in the MedEquity HSA related to prescription coverage: "Prescriptions filled by a Participating Pharmacy not to exceed the amount of the cost of the least expensive drug, medicine or Prescription Drug."

Does this mean the plan dictates that the policyholder uses only generic drugs if available? What if the doctor or policyholder needs a drug that isn't the "least expensive" alternative (generic) to treat their condition?

If anything the language in the brochure is poorly written don't you agree? Is this truly comprehensive Rx coverage? Sorry for trashing your pet plan, but this language seems to indicate no comprehensive Rx coverage.

In all fairness, other carriers seem to have this type of poorly written language in their policies which allows them to wiggle out of expensive Rx treatment.

I've never had a client denied coverage for ANY meds no matter what condition or ailment being treated. So you can put away your magnifying glass searching for reasons to scold me, it's a waste of time. My 'pet plan'?

As I said before, I don't sell with brochures. Brochures are for agents who don't know the product or company they represent. I have my own MedEquity policy and know how it reads/works.

Samarco, I'll have some info for you in email within a few days.

Rivers1: Its nothing personal with you - its just a pet peeve of mine - Agents who have a second tier carrier or plan touted as "the best". I have wasted so much time selling against and listening to GAs push companies like American Republic, GTL, American Community, and even World in some markets only to find out that their pricing usually sucks, the rateups (renewals) are way above average, the backoffice staff can be nonexistent, and most of their plans are written with major holes in them.

Yea, according to AL3, Medicare is the only politically correct type of insurance so that is all I write.
