Weird Cold-call Today!!

I was calling for med supps today and I called a lady who seemed a bit hesitant to speak to me, a little more than usual for a cold-call. She had a MA with Amerilife, but she asked me if I knew of the word "pink". It seems that some agent, apparently trying to sell a MA plan and waiting for Nov. 15th, must have told her not to speak to anyone but him or someone in his office because their a many scams happening in our area. She said that he told her that she would know if they are from his office because his people knew to give her the password "pink".

I cold-call businesses for P&C but not for L&H.

I have no idea who it is. I told the lady that he was the actual scammer and she needed to do business with a reputable agent with references.

I dont think its a CMS violation. The agent probly works for Senior Solutions/ Penn-life. I had a short stint with them and that was taught so it built trust. Wasnt a fan of it and shortly left to be indy. If it is Senior Solutions they are a bit expensive with the rate increase on the Todays Options and there medsupps are OK in price but not the cheepest.

Why on earth would you report this to CMS? If the person is trying to give out a "password", "authorization code" or anything else, that's far from being criminal. In all reality some variation of that is probably a good business practice if you want to lock up a client and let them know they're being taken care of. It may be a bit lame, but probably works well with the right prospect and certainly not a violation of any CMS regulations.

Do not worry about what other agent may have said..Most MA agents fail to tell client that they are opting out of Traditional Medicare..Make that point and go on. When MA Plans 1st came out in some states you did not have to be a licensed agent to sell them..Remember MA is a Contract not insurance. MA is history Congress has pulled their funds.
