I just bought my wife an Iphone for $100; 3g since the 3gs is now out. What did people pay for those things, $600?

I have Vista with almost no problems but I also kept XP for over a year.

So I'll probably move to Windows 7....in a year.
You sir, are indeed a guru. I could not agree more with that advice.

For the rest of you, unless you have some compelling reason you HAVE to upgrade to the newest operating system, WAIT!

Apart from that, I do realize that there are people who just have to have the latest technololgy, it's like buying a new car. They want to smell that new car smell. In the computer world many refer to it as being on the leading edge.

Around here we like to call it the "bleeding edge".

Of course we do appreciate and thank you folks who go through all that pain and suffering debugging the new stuff, because you end up paving the road for the rest of us, who hold back and wait. Your misery makes our lives easier.

We do have one machine with the newest windows operating system on it, to ensure that our software does not have problems on the newest OS and it lets us test OS specific problems.

However, the rest of our equipment is running XP and will do so for a long, long time.

There's not much I "need" except for a computer and phone. I'm sure there are a lot of "got to have it first" people. That's fine and there's nothing wrong with that at all. I'm sure it's indeed very cool to own the latest gadget. However, I've learned that most new technology is very "buggy."
