Well of course. The average person is just too stupid to be in charge of their own life.

What a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts             Go to Top

Another Obama czar turns out to be a nut:

Sunstein urges: Abolish marriage

But a dangerous nut. He thinks the first amendment needs to be modified. This from wikipedia:
In his book Democracy and the Problem of Free Speech Sunstein says there is a need to reformulate First Amendment law. He thinks that the current formulation, based on Justice Holme's conception of free speech as a marketplace “disserves the aspirations of those who wrote America’s founding document.” The purpose of this reformulation would be to “reinvigorate processes of democratic deliberation, by ensuring greater attention to public issues and greater diversity of views
Which explains the White House declaring war on Fox News. It is an effort to promote diversity in the press. I mean, how can you have diversity like CNN and MSNBC if Fox is sucking up all the ratings.

And Sunstein loves taxes - IT IS THE GOVERNMENT's MONEY, and we should hand it over cheerfully. The following quote is from his book:
"In what sense is the money in our pockets and bank accounts fully ‘ours’? Did we earn it by our own autonomous efforts? Could we have inherited it without the assistance of probate courts? Do we save it without the support of bank regulators? Could we spend it if there were no public officials to coordinate the efforts and pool the resources of the community in which we live? Without taxes, there would be no liberty. Without taxes there would be no property. Without taxes, few of us would have any assets worth defending. [It is] a dim fiction that some people enjoy and exercise their rights without placing any burden whatsoever on the public… There is no liberty without dependency."
Thaler, Richard H.; Sunstein, Cass R. (2008). Nudge: improving decisions about health, wealth, and happiness. Chapter 15: Privatizing Marriage: Caravan Books. pp. 215-228

"Could we have inherited it without the assistance of probate courts?"

That kind of sums up the thinking of people like Sunstein.

It was a government entity that provided your inheritance, not your parents. And, of course, the little part about how the probate process swindles you out of getting all that you should get through fees, taxes, and needless complications that require legal fees, is not mentioned.

The primary purpose of probate is to make sure the fees and taxes are paid. It is not there for your well-being. I think the same can basically be said about all government entities.

I'm always amazed by the loons on the left. How do they define the "Government"? I mean who is this entity? Do they just think a certain class of people should rule over us serfs?
