Know your market, then match the product to that market.
Example: If your market is medium age 35, married or single with or with out kids. Then you would sell Life products, Health products and Income replacement products.
If your market is medium age 65, then you would sell Medicare Supplement, Variable Life products, Long Term Care products and Fixed & Variable annuities.
One thing you should get is a series 66 license, this will allow you to sell veriable products.

Permanent life insurance for wealthy people who know you. Go from there, or you can start at the bottom with individual health and internet leads and work your way up or not.
Annuities are even better as well as the Medicare market.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. Rabbi in regards to your post. I will be starting from the bottom with internet leads with an end goal of establishing an agency. I have heard alittle about the Medicare Supplement market and you aluded it would be more profitable. Are appointments given directly to agents or would I have to work for someone? Based on my market it will be either Medicare Supplement or some type of mortgage protection life insurance.
