Now that we have had a liberal define who conservatives are, and what they believe, let's try the version of conservatism from the point of view of a conservative.
Oh dear. Another junior college dropout who wants to engage. Here, son. Let me give you one simple suggestion on how to get started. If you are trying to make a sale and your prospect says "The moon is blue, two plus two is five, the earth is square, and the Cubs are going to win the World Series this year," the correct opening is not to say "Look asshole, your are wrong." You just lost that sale.
The correct response is "I understand what you are saying and I see your point but I beg to differ with you on some of them."
Next time you disagree with someone, go ahead and try that... in person as well as on this board... and you might get a better reception.
As for me, I'm not going to waste my time with you... you lost this sale. I suggest you make your pitch to your neo-con buddies. I'm sure they will buy what you are selling.
You are free to babble on incessantly and I am free to not listen.
I agree. You are best advised to set me to "ignore" on your control panel. That way you will only hear what you already know... and by definition will continue to remain as ignorant as you already are.
It's Barry Goldwater's acceptance speech at the 1964 Republican Convention in San Francisco. LBJ slaughtered him in the election.
No one since has ever tried to run on a strict-constructionist platform. Reagan hinted at it, but he knew the country was far more moderate than the right-wing extremists.
So you want to take over the Republican Party with this clap-trap? As a liberal-moderate independent, I hope you succeed. If you think your arch-conservative Sen. Bunning can get elected on your "manifesto", put your money where your mouth is and contribute a sizable sum.
If you and Winter are right... that there is some kind of latent pent-up conservative well-spring of discontent, that will topple the liberal majorities in 2010 and the current administration in 2012, then you better get started on it.

Thank you for that pointed and thoughtful response to the specifics of the document.
Of course I jest.
It is the hallmark of liberalism to confront specifics with generalities and to attack the messenger and not the message. You have done an excellent job and your fellow Democrats would commend your excellent implementation of party strategy. There is no doubt that Democrats everywhere are proud of you.
Is there anyone who would like to make some thoughtful and constructive comments.
Um... you want 10,000 neo-con agents here to post "I agree. Bob you're the smartest man in the world for writing this?" I wouldn't hold my breath on that.
Two items:
1. You can't make thoughtful and insightful (much less constructive) comments on crap. And what your website has is plain old, we've heard this all before, it's all about selfish me, me and me, Barry Goldwater... crap. It didn't fly then and I doubt it will fly now. All you are offering is Alabama of 1958 and the voters rejected that platform when they dumped Goldwater in 1964. You are Canadian so you would not be expected to understand that what you posted is "old news."
2. Beyond Winter on the conservative side and Rick on the libertarial side, who here in neo-con-ville has the native intelligence to make "constructive" comments about anything, much less your old-hat, "let's lynch 'em" conservative bullshit? I suppose you will get a comment from ins.dave. but that's only because crap attracts crap.

Bob, I (and I'm sure 10,000 others) like and agree with your website. After hearing it described as "clap-trap" by Al, it was REFRESHING to read.
1. What Al said about it proves he must have been on the wrong site.
2. What Al said about it proves he must have been on the wrong site.
He also wondered about when we are going to get started!? Ummmm, 9-12, summer of 09 tea parties, LARGE grass roots movements in this direction, conservative moms, whole FAMILIES who are "waking up" etc, etc, etc., so don't stop Al, it is "your kind" in the current administration that is mobilizing this effort, so keep it up. Us "drop-outs" are learning very quickly (also the vast majority who voted your way for "hope and change", ignorantly). Very serious, but also great fun! You should be able to look back and be proud to have been so instrumental in saving our republic! I guess Al's worst nightmare would be to have a Congress filled with Joe the plumber.

I think it is good that your rag-tag army of racist Nazis, gun-toting reactionaries, and Archie Bunker conservatives take an active role in the political process. You are all citizens and you all have that right (although I'm sure you would gladly deny it to liberals, blacks, other minorities, and women if you could.)
You SHOULD get out there and have your voice heard. I welcome it. If you think you can sell your tired, old xenophobic political rhetoric to the voters, more power to you. Sure. By all means... come out with your Glocks strapped to your legs (or in your pocket as I know several of you do when you go in public... either hoping to find someone to kill or at least to make an attempt to mitigate your paranoia) and carry your hate-crime signs and and have the Aryan Nation guys give your speeches for you (since most of you can't say two words without an obscenity between them) and maybe you can get enough latent-racist red-necks to get off their fat white butts and vote your candidate (my guess at this point would be Huckabee) into office.
That's how Hitler did it... and I have no doubt that the first thing you folks will do in office is build "Camp Huckawitz" and have the FBI, Federal Marshals, and perhaps your own "army" of brown-shirts (hey, you guys have ALL the guns) and round up all of us libs, mods, blacks, minorities, etc., and put us in box-cars headed for a shower of Zyklon B.
(Kentucky would be a good place to build this. Outside of Lexington you have a huge white majority of arch-conservatives who deny the Nazi holocaust and who would gladly build the camps and operate them.)
If you folks think that the message that you have for America... the return to how things were in the 50s... the hate, the discrimination, the lynchings, the lack of due-process, the absence of seat-belt laws, gun registration, and consumer protection... I urge you go hold your rallies (there are lots of old newsreels of how they looked in Germany in the 30s for you to copy) and see what kind of reaction you get. You already have an entire TV network (Fox) and a radio network (EIB) that will give you the coverage you want... so there you go.
You have almost 10,000 neo-con agents right here in this venue as a "base." Add to that the born-again Christians and the Limbaugh-Beck minions, and in a close election you just might win enough districts to with your Thurmond/Wallace-like candidates. (Of course history is against you since Wallace wasn't successful in 1972.) And maybe you can swing enough electoral votes to get your hero Huckabee(gone) to usher in the Christian theocracy (aka. American Inquisition) that you so fervently are praying for this Sunday morning.
Go for it, guys. Bring it on! I'll sit down with any one of you on any network news show and discuss your platform. If you think you can sell the clap-trap of Goldwater '64, let's do it!
I combed your posting for factual statements and found these:
Lexington is a city in Kentucky.
There is a TV network called Fox.
There is a radio program nicknamed EIB.
Germany did have a party called Nazi (incidentally that is short for National Socialist German Workers’ Party).
Apart from that, the balance of your posting seemed to be one false accusation heaped upon another.
So let's begin with any of those accusations - you pick the one that you prefer most - and provide us with the FACTS to support your position and then we can discuss/debate it.

You mean Glock is not a gun? Sorry. I thought it was. Apologies.
Finally, why would I want to debate with a closed mind? I'm not going to convince you of anything nor are you going to convince me. So what's the point of it all. You tell your side, I'll tell my side and people will decide for themselves. There are 9,990 neo-cons on this board who are going to side with you. You are their hero. "You da man!" There are ten mod/libs who will side with me. So why are you so threatened?
I'm surely not threatened by you... because on this board or any other board I can take you (not literally) apart crumb by crumb and feed you to the possums... or whatever you guys hunt and eat in KY. But why bother? Do you think there is even ONE AGENT on this board who is going to all of a sudden become more moderate (or less neo-con) if I do? Not gonna happen. So again, why do I want to spend any time in wasteful debate just do "do it."
Like I say, you post your Goldwater of 1964 and I'll post my "America: A More Just and Better Nation" and we'll see where it all goes. I concede to you the Goldwater vote. Now let me see. How many states did he win?
Go for it, guys. Bring it on! I'll sit down with any one of you on any network news show and discuss your platform. If you think you can sell the clap-trap of Goldwater '64, let's do it!

Al argues with himself.

Actually played some of their songs in a band in the 70's. We killed innocent eardrums with high-powered transducers. (I wore military grade earplugs and headphones, my hearing is still "20/20")

Actually, if you happen to have a multi-track studio at home, and you can't find good musicians to play with, you might as well stay home and play with yourself.
Besides, at my age, by the time I lug my equipment over to somebody's house, I'm usually too tired to use it.

Fave bassists: Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius (RIP), Bernard Edwards (RIP)
Fave drummers: Steve Gadd, Dave Wekl
Fave genre: Jazz/Rock/Funk Fusion (obviously)
Search YouTube for "The King of Drummers". Amazing. THREE drummers. Turn it up - if you have a good system, Steve's bass drum sounds like a cannon. (He's in the middle.)
If you are not used to this genre, these guys ALWAYS play IN TIME; they just play all around and all over "the beat". See if you can keep up by counting, conducting it, tapping your foot or patting your leg in quarter note time. Great fun!

Why doesn't the white house try and finish the REAL wars instead of acting like a bunch of children with Fox News... Anyone here have friends, family over in the Middle East? I'm sure we all know people, I know a lot. If were going to be in a war we need to do everything to win or leave. It makes me sick watching this waste of a presidency sidestep around this. Stop playing stupid games, stop telling me health reform has to happen tomorrow but I'm going to let another couple of troops everyday die while I think about how big of an apology I owe the world for how evil America is.... I've tolerated a lot of crap from this president but really... If you want to be the commander in chief try to do your job and either pull our troops out or fight to win.
Everything is working out fine for Fox. Their ratings are going straight up and Obama's are going straight down. If Mr. Axlerod has an answer to everything then just keep on keeping on. His left wing base isnt incrementally moving over to Fox but the independents and the centrists that got him elected sure as heck are. But, they should just keep on doing whatever they want. Nixon did the same thing by villainizing parts of the media (Bush did too but he showed up, big difference). How did that work out for Nixon?

Well, now that we know how much Anita Dunn just *hearts* Mao Zedong (Tse Tung, whatever), it really gives us a fresh perspective on why the administration is giving such a push for h1n1 flu shots.
I do believe Chairman Mao had to physically slaughter 70 million people. But if Dunn and her lovelies could just get us all to voluntarily pull a Jim Jones? Well, that would pretty much get rid of the unemployment rate and global warming in one fell swoop.
If you go back to post #21 and click the link "What Conservatives Believe" and then read what Al wrote about it, I believe you will see that Al pretty much called the American Constitution "...clap trap...crap...crap".
